Bird of prey vs. deer

I believe it's a Roe Deer.
Yeah, I was about to say, for those that thought someone turned that thing loose on a fawn, I don't think that's a whitetail. I don't know what a Roe Deer is, but I do know there are some species that are that size full grown, I bet it's one of those, Roe or otherwise. I didn't see any spots...

A few years ago while goose hunting a Bald Eagle dove down out of the sky and tried to pick up one of my plastic goose decoys. He got his left wing wet,let out a squack and beat feet out of there.I wish I would have had a video camera to record it

Birds of prey, hmmmm.

We started this spring off with 5 new India Blue Peachicks.

Over the last 4 wks. we have lost 3.

I watched them roosting in a big live oak the other nite and went out with the flashlight to see the remaining 3 trying to squeeze under mommas wings.

A couple of hours later I hear a loud screech.
Went outside only to discover two large owls at the bottom of the oak shredding chick # 3.

Birds of prey vs. a pissed:mad: off farmer who has lost $1,000 in livestock in the past weeks?... Whell, let's just say we won't lose anymore chicks.

Great video, has anyone seen the video of the Golden Eagle pulling the Bighorn Sheep lamb over the cliff edge and then feeding on the carcass?

Indicates that though deer/caribou/reindeer predation by eagles is not their primary food source, that they will kill large game animals with relative ease.

The one mulie doe I saw killed by a golden eagle (the one with the broke foreleg) got hit in the upper neck/head region. The neck, and skull were both obviously broken after the impact, and the talons has tore deep into the neck and severed the main arteries on one side. It was dead before it even hit the ground.

Ive read in medival times travelling mercanaries and soidiers for hire had birds of prey that were trained to gather small game for food.

also mabe the owner of the bird wasnt hunting at all mabe he raises small deer to feed his bird?:D:D:D

Sorry Fisherman66, I still don't know how to post links and I could only find reference to it in my search.

But a very interesting video I did find was on a site called BIRDCHICK.COM.

I searched... (eagle vs fox birdchick)

It was of a man hunting with a Golden in Spain I believe and the video shows the Eagle catching a Fox. Very, very neat.

Can someone help with the link?

You must scroll to the bottom of the page for the Falconer and his catch video.

We also dont know if they are even hunting for sport or if they are just letting the eagle feed.

If these guys are actually feeding their families, they surely dont care if it is a fawn or a full grown deer. Food is Food.
