Bill Clinton

We are talking about the same group of idiots that publically stated we could handle yet another confrentation with N. Korea should it arise yet we are taking a beating in Iraq. Please note, the most respected of his administration (in my opinion) flew the coup before the second term!

Leadcounsel
eh... I don't believe you can get that much fissionable material along with a detonator in a suitcase let alone the shielding to protect the person carrying it before he drops dead from a lethal dose.

Bill Clinton?
Best danged gun seller ever set foot inside this country. Every gun store oughta have a gold plated framed photo of the man with a "Thank You Bill" poster nearby. ;)
That man moved more semi-automatic magazine fed, pistol gripped bayonet lug wearing rifles than just about anyone I can think of in recent history. More wondernines and their 15+ round magazines went flying out gunstore doors into the hands of the people. Created a whole slew of little bitty .45's and .40's and baby 9's...
And WHAT A POLITICIAN!!!
The man could get elected just about anywhere in this country (except maybe Utah) once upon a time.

Why is Clinton being crusified for bin laden yet Bush has turned his focus from bin laden to Iraq and now afghanastan is a side show?

Clinton had 8 years to deal with Bin Laden when he was prominent. Clinton twice declined the chance to have Bin Laden killed for political reasons.(TWICE) Today Bin Laden is a mere symbol---reduced to no power. He is cut off from all communications and stranded in caves along the border. He is a shell of what he once was in regards to Al Queda.
Honestly, everything you are saying screams of second hand propaganda from liberal sites. Do some background research on your own instead of reading blogs to discover what's really happening.

Really lead? I can't find anything. Do you have a link? Even if there are larger ones, I found this info interesting:

"Such weapons are easily detected by routine scanning equipment. Second, people assume they are activated simply by pushing a button. You have PC problems. Those are trivial compared to triggering a suitcase bomb. And third, those weapons degrade quickly to uselessness if not maintained. Technology and materials not found in any dentist's office or janitorial supply house.

What made so many surface to air missiles useless to terrorists? Batteries went dead."

Oh, and Bill Clinton sucks. Oh wait, that was Monica.......*beating a dead horse*

He took campaign donations (aka bribes) to allow targeting technology to be sold to our enemies. He assisted in arming the North Koreans with nukes. He allowed a blow job in the Oval Office to be used as a smokescreen for the above. He swindled old folks out of retirement money in the Whitewater scam. He has murdered more than one person who could have been politically embarrassing to him (the Starbucks murders, Vince Foster, Ron Brown, and surely quite a few others).

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. There have been worse presidents and equally treasonous presidents, but Clinton was an obvious scumbag and was open about it.

You should read The Death of the West by Patrick J. Buchanan.

Justin:

the Assault Weapon Ban (AWB) was the Brady Bill signed by Clinton in '94. It sunset in '04 (meaning there was a 10 year life provision that required it to be resigned or die).

Assault weapon, by the way, is a misnomer. It's a left wing word to demonize civilian guns.

A few sites discussion the development and later loss of the briefcases. I'll continue to look for the devestation of the cases. I once read that they are equivalent to the bombs we dropped in WWII.

“In 1997, former Russian security chief Gen. Alexander Lebed testified that perhaps 100 small nuclear devices were missing from inventories under his control. Gen. Lebed, who ran in the 1996 presidential election and finished third, said the devices were a "perfect terrorist weapon," made to look like suitcases, "and could be detonated by one person with less than 30 minutes of preparation," according to documents.”

Your original question was "Why, in EVERY gun shop or range I go to is Clinton hated?"

Have you been answered or not?

Now you are complaining about President Bush. What does this have to do with "Why, in EVERY gun shop or range I go to is Clinton hated?"

Do you think you should start a new thread? Or was complaining about President Bush your original intention?

Lead,
I understand what the ban was, just did not know its association. I origonally thought it was a ban on automatic weapons up until it came up for renewal, I read the bill and realized it made no difference to crime.

model520fan, Sorry, I truly wanted to know why, just somewhere I veered off the subject. That Being said I am done and my question answered. thanks

Some of our smallest 155 mm shells weighed in at about 100 pounds and produced about 1/10 of a kiloton. The point is that the weapon needs to contain the material (that can be quite small due to its mass along with neutron reflecting material, Chemical HE, along with electronics for fusing and an adequate caseing for some very hot material. Uranium 235 would require about 50kg, much less for Plutomium 239, Curium 243 or Americium 249.

Not sure what is meant by "no teeth", I think we gun owners and shooters
showed and used our teeth in the 1994 Congressional elections, as I heard one commentator say on NPR "Far from being down and out, the NRA came back with both barrels blazing and shot down many of its opponents." On a smaller and somewhat less effective scale, the same thing happened in New
Jersey in 1991 and 1993-in the legislative elections, the Republicans won veto-proof majorities in bothe houses, thought they were unable to use them effectively, in 1993 the Democratic governor-Florio-who pushed through the
state's AWB became the first sitting governor to be defeated for re-election.
I recall reading that the voters of Nebraska added the RKBA to their state constition a few years ago, I think the voters of Lousiana did something similar. After the 1994 elections NPR sent a correspondent out into the Heartland to gain some sense of what the people there thought and felt, he noted how in so much (if not most) of the U.S.A. attacking the NRA and the
RKBA is like attacking the Catholic or the Baptist Church or the PTA or the
American Legion-you do it at your peril.

Ok then, I stand corrected. Dirty bombs and suitcase bombs are two different things even though dirty bombs could be transported in a suitcase. But that's beside the point. There is NO evidence that any terrorist organization has either. So, what was your point again? A suitcase bomb is even more expensive and would be harder to get into the country too. More speculation from Leadcouncil. A suitcase bomb's yield is all speculation. Those devises that your one link alleges are really old and probably close to inert by now anyway. People should be far more concerned about chemical and biological attacks also. :p

I just love how Clinton gets bashed for ignoring the threats from the Middle East but you all just feel it's OK that the Bush administration did the EXACT same thing. And not only that, they lied about it for months after 9/11.
