Better ban knives in the US now...!

I read an article on the internet (aol or msn sites, I think) that a chef had said that pointed knives are un-necessary except on a very short blade for some tasks. Current legal blade length to carry is 6" and I don't think an Old Timer (traditional) has a blade that long. They could easily make the maximum legal blade length 3-inches (longer than a box cutter). I only carry a pocket knife while deer hunting as I always felt you were more likely to cut yourself with the longer blade no matter how cool it might look. Love my Randalls, but I just wouldn't use one for any serious legitimate task. However, I don't want to change any legal blade lengths regardless of what terrorists or anyone else uses on the street.

Pitch forks--next on the ban list? Us American Gothic/Wheathead types can be pretty dangerous with them. The tines can be really septic with that dung and rust.

Golf clubs--I worked a case where a 20-year-old was beat almost to death with a set.

Hollow-core doors--I arrested a guy for taking one off its hinges and hitting his pregnant wife across her stomach with the bottom edge.

Paper cuts--a severe, unwarranted, daily office tragedy.

Let 'em ban it. Encourage it. Be in favor of denying rights to honest people. Be anti-gu........I mean sensible and.....ummmm...its for the children!

Do you people have any idea how many deaths paper cut cause each year?!?!

Even with their crime rate soaring they still think that it's not that they're going about it the wrong way but that they haven't done it the right way enough.

what would the ILLEGALS defend themselves with? the knife is the weapon of choice among mexicans. atleast once a week theres a stabbing at a "cantina" in houston
Acutually those are what we like to call shanks but alright no knives lets gut deer with the bayonets on our assault weapons or are we going to ban those too?

You guys forgot to mention that knives don't make any noise at all and don't run out of bullets. That makes them more dangerous than silenced weapons which still make a small report. The fact that they doesn't run out of ammunition makes them deadlier than hi capacity weapons. Knives don't have serial numbers and can't be traced back to the buyers. Oh my goodness! How did we ever get to this point??? :p

I still remember that time I forgot to leave my folder at home and went through security at the airport. I told them I had a CCW and that they could stick it in my carry on luggage and that I wouldn't touch it. They said they would put it in lost and found but I said someone would jack my $120 Benchmade. They actually let me through with it. Needless to say this was before 9/11. I imagine the outcome would be very different now a days.
