Best trigger on a semi & revolver?

Semi: 1911, it is always the shortest travel of all hadgun trigger designs which goes a looooooooooooooong ;) way to making it the best. Oh, and it is always the same.
Revolver: S&W

I agree with the OP about the Kahr trigger. I love the trigger on my K9. I read a lot of opinions on here about hating DA triggers on semi-autos, but I happen to like them. Maybe it was all the shooting with the S&W service revolver when I was a correctional officer, but I have no issues what so ever with the longer action of a DA trigger.

Yes, I was definitely impressed with the Kahr triggers. Much nicer than what I expected.

Best trigger that I've tried personally was a Ruger Mark II with work done by Clark Custom.

Triggers

I'll have to go along with the many responses in favor of the Colt 1911 Gold Cup Nat'l Match for .45s.
The OP was about triggers in semis. The focus has been on larger caliber firearms, except for the notes about the Volquartsen and the Clark.
Absolutely the best trigger I have used on a semi auto is on a High Standard Victor .22. As good as my Gold Cup is, the Victor is better. Also - the Hammerli 208, the Smith 41 and the Smith 52 have marvelous triggers.
As for revolvers, that video about the coin on the barrel made a believer out of me.

I really do not shot my Autos enough to really know which one. On the other hand this is the handguns with the best trigger I have ever shot. My dad’s (and my) K22.

Anything with a transfer bar pales in comparison

My .41 Mag Blackhawk I purchased used, the trigger beats all my other new model Blackhawks, the previous owner must have had a trigger job done to it. I also noticed it has a Belt Mountain locking base pin installed.

My revolver- Colt Python without a doubt

My Semi-Autos- both 1911's, 1 is a SA Mil-Spec and the other is a Para

I get trigger jobs on all my guns except that last two recent purchases. You can have an outstanding trigger and action for that matter. A good gunsmith can do it and to me it's worth every penny. I know other people that are the same way. Nothing like a buttery smooth revolver action with a perfect trigger.

I haven't tried everything but I like my 1911 semiautos and old SW revolvers just fine.

Although I gotta tell you about my Ruger Super Red Hawk. The gun has no felt trigger break when shooting single action. It's no hair trigger, requires a good deal of pressure, it's just that I backed up the trigger with friction tape so that there is no overtravel. Trigger presses into a depression. Hard to explain, the gun is like psychic... You can see the tape here -

Nice thing about this setup is I can reliably hold a double action pull at 98% as long as I want. Then I just mind meld it into a hammer drop :D

I can only speak from my personal experience. I have some 1911s with excellent triggers but my Wilson edges a couple of my other out. No creep, very crisp, and light.

For a double action revolver, it's a tough decision. I have a SW pre-M&P Target Model from the 1920s that is wonderfully smooth, a Python that is slick as a whistle, and a SW Model 15 that's just plain fun to shoot.

BUT since I have to choose only one, it would be my Colt Officer's Model Match in .38 special from the 1950s. This gun has the same hand tuned action as the Python done by true craftsmen.

The best trigger I've ever encountered on a semi-auto was a Walther PPK/S .380. Smooth....

The best trigger I've ever experienced on a revolver was a Smith & Wesson 629-4. Really smooth...

Favorite revolver and semiauto

I have quite a few handguns and like to shoot, and of those I have, my favorite triggers are on a 52 year old S&W model 27 revolver and a 41 year old Colt Gold Cup. I would agree with Playboy Penguin that the Kahr trigger is remarkably good, however (I have a MK9). I also have a Colt Python, and it is good but I slightly prefer the S&W 27 trigger to the Colt.

From my (admittedly limited) experience, the best triggers on semi auto's I've fired:

Striker (and technically DA/SA): my Walther P99 AS. The trigger is incredibly smooth and consistent. It really puts every other striker pistol I've had the opportunity to shoot to shame.

SAO: a Les Baer 1911. Pity I'll probably never have the money for one! That was the sweetest gun I've ever shot.

Revolvers: not enough experience to comment. I did like the S&W 686 I once got to shoot though.

For my revolver it would be a tough choice between the 4" nickle model 27 or the 3 1/2" blue model 27.
For auto it would be the 1991A1 with tuned C&S fire control group.

Agreed about the Kahr trigger, it is excellent right out of the box, smooth and easy to control. I like the trigger on my S&W 686+, tho it could be improved. My favorite trigger among my mini-arsenal is the on on my Taurus 617, post-gunsmithing. I know Taurus is not the most popular maker around these parts, but after having the 'smith work, the trigger is as smooth as glass, no stacking, breaks crisply ... it's a joy to shoot -- AND it holds 7 rnds of .357mag.
