Best semi-auto Pocket pistol?

I looked at the major ones, Kel Tec, LCP, Bodygaurd, Kahr and Taurus TCP. For the price and trigger I liked and ended up getting the TCP. I liked the trigger on the TCP better then the similar cost .380s.
Once you get up into the higher priced ones I like the Sig. If I am going to spend Kahr money I would rather the mini 1911 that Sig makes.
To me the Rohrbaugh is priced too high, no matter how much money I come into.

IMHO the Taurus TCP is the best for the $$. I know there is a lot of Taurus bashing out there, but mine has been 100% reliable through the first 100 rounds. Can't say enough good about it.

"Best" is a matter of opinion.

I have the following semi-autos still in production that could be considered pocket pistols:

1. Sig P238 .380 - Single Action Only. A clone of the Mustang. Pretty good trigger and mine has been reliable. Fairly accurate little pistol. Sights are "bigger" and allow for faster sight acquisition than the Colt Mustang but are not as precise.

2. Ruger LCP .380 -- Double Action Only. Small and very light weight. I carry it when I don't want to carry a gun. Small sights and long, relatively heavy trigger pull. I cannot shoot this gun accurately though some can. Still, I find myself carrying it fairly often.

3. Kahr CM9 - 9mm. Double Actin Only (striker fired). Three inch barrel with a relatively good trigger and pretty decent sights. I shoot it reasonably well. A bit bigger than the others but fits well in most of my pants pockets in a pocket holster.

I can tell you it is not an AMT backup for shure. The seacamp maybe, but it is hard to beat the old Sig p238 ,it even looks good doing it .:D

Well let me clarify then. I am looking for the best pocket pistol thats going to put the smallest dent in check book.

I'll second that. If you can't afford the Sig, I would definitely look at the P3AT. You might have to do a bit of fluff/buff at first, but once they're broken in they're reliable little pistols. I highly recommend the magazine grip extension, it makes it a lot easier to hold on to.

Mini Mag

I know this is a semi-auto question and I do carry a glock 26 on my hip. That being said you might want to look at North American Arms Mini mag. I carry one in front pocket during summer months. It is a tiny deadly 22 Magnum with inch and half barrel. It loads five rounds. It is reliable and just over 22 dollars.

It's my opinion that a true pocket pistol should not only be dimensionally petite but ought to weigh not much more than ten ounces or so-and less is better. And, as should be the case with any weapon being employed for self-defense, reliable in the extreme and offering as much power in a little package as can be managed in terms of a level of recoil that doesn't overly compromise the ability to make aimed, repeat shots. Imo, the .380 ACP best meets this "standard".

Though there are certainly other viable players, the Ruger LCP is my idea of the "perfect pocket pistol": relatively small, light-weight (9.4 ounces), reliable, chambered in .380, well-made and nicely finished and comparatively affordable.

+1 on the LCP. If you don't mind the 380, it's hard to beat for concealed carry. Disappears in a pocket holster. If you get one, go ahead and spring for the CT laser, makes a world of difference.

Depending on what I'm wearing, I carry the Kahr CM9 (mine has been 100% although others have had issues...) or the BG 380. IMO both guns have the best triggers for their caliber and are very reliable guns. I haven't had any FTFs or FTEs with either.

I am not sure that a single action pistol can really be considered a good pocket pistol. How do you safely carry a single action gun and still have it ready to go on a moments notice?

how do you carry a SA safely in your pocket?

Cocked and locked.

FWIW. I initially bought the BG380 but traded it in for a Sig238 immediately after taking it out to the range. I just didn't like the long trigger pull. I'd hate to see the OP purchase something based on price and then find out it's not really what he or she wants. If you don't like the way a certain gun handles or feels, you're less likely to carry it. Just my $.02.

All of the pocket 380's have long, crappy trigger pulls----it just seems to be the nature of the beast. The Sig 380 is the same size as the Kahr CM9 so if I am going to carry something that size, I'd just go for the 9mm.

I agree with you though that if you don't like the trigger pull or don't think you can learn to fire it accurately, don't get it.

I've got a little experience with the Ruger LCP, and it seams to be reliable, accurate, and light weight. I liked the trigger on it, even though it's very long.

I havent shot the Body Guard. But I've dry fired it and found that the trigger was alot harder too use than the LCP. It was not as smooth, and had a harder pull, and was just as long. The sights were better on the Body Guard. But I didnt like the trigger so much that I would chose the LCP over the Body Guard any day. The fact that it has a laser doesnt sell me on it.

In terms of a pocket pistol should I sacrifice a little on size and just go with a compact 9mm instead of a .380? An example would be the famous G26 and just forget about the BG 380 etc.?

not into .380 pocket pistols, but if i were to get one, the s&w bodyguard would be it. (and not because of the $10 eBay laser)
