Best scope for $125 or less?

For that price, the Nikon Pro Staff is your best bet. I saw someone recommend a Redfield Revolution. They cost more than the $125, you stated. I bought one, and it has bright optics, but it would not adjust. Sent it in for repairs, and it came back in the same condition I shipped it. They have provided a shipping label to send it back again. Not a happy experience, but I am sure they will make good on it eventually.

Took a look thru Redfield Revolution 4-12x yesterday. I was totally impressed. I compared it to a bushnell banner 4-12x. The refield was very clear!

back when I first started out with my dads remington 700 .243 I walked into my local sporting goods store and asked them what the best scope I could get for $100 was. the guy gave me a nikon prostaff 3x9. I loved it so much that I bought another one sight unseen for my AR and without realizing it I bought one with a BDC reticule. I bought a 4-12 for my 300 WBY mag and it's held a great zero. I would heavily recommend them.

Shooter's Edge - extremely under-valued

I got a Shooter's Edge brand scope 3x9x40 for my .22mag that has been a great scope. I think they are a new company, that has excellent quality for the price. I imagine the prices will jump in the coming years. I believe they have several options around that price range now, and it looks like nobody's mentioned them yet.

I've heard good things about the Bushnell Elite(3200). I'm pretty sure that it's in your price range. I have a $50 Barska scope on my rifle and I can put 3 shots in a dime like it's nothing.

Ok...I did it.

I found a good deal on the Redfield Revolution and put it in layaway. The 4-12x is what I bought at a local gun store. It cost me $192 out the door. Will let you know how it works in a couple months.

At he low end, I've had pretty good luck with the bushnell banner series. They seem to draw in a lot of light, hold their zero well and are very clear.

Afman,

You have chosen wisely, I know that you will love this scope.
I bought one of the Redfield Revoloutions for my Daughtor, and Its a great scope, it holds its setting, has excelent eye relief, adjust and tracks accurately. I like it as much as the Leupold thats on my Rifle.
Good luck.:):)

Report on Redfield Revolution 4-12x40

I got a chance to hit the range yesterday with my 700 ADL Varmint, 243 Win, and my new Redfield Revolution 4-12x40 (4-plex) at 100 yrds. I really liked the clarity of this scope. I was able to zero the scope in 3 shots with some old factory ammo, then fine tuned to my pet 87gr V-max load. I also liked the finger adjustable knobs on the scope. The click adjustments were, for the most part, pretty crisp. The scope has great eye relief too. Only con of this scope was that it didn't come with any lens covers from the factory.

There was a double dose effect on accuracy though. I also decreased the weight of the factory trigger. Going from a 3-9x40 and decreasing the trigger weight probably shaved a good .25 inches off the group sizes I've been experiencing. Pic shows the results.

NIce shooting AFman. I thought you were going to post a pic of the rifle/scope set-up, although that is a nice target.
