Best Ruger 10/22 High Capacity Magazine

Thanks for the thread.

I saw the Ruger BX25 mag last time I was at my favorite gun store and asked about it there. Was told it was working out well. Would have bought one then, but didn't have the extra cash after buying a SP101. I have a couple of Butler Creeks that work but not so well. I can only load one with 20 rounds. May try to pick up a BX25 soon. Thanks for the comments.

I would recommend the ruger factory hi cap mags. the BX25s I have both work like a charm. the butler creek mags aren't bad but you have to get the ones with metal feed lips instead of plastic feed lips.

and anyone that says that the ruger mags are just rebranded butler creek mags has never even seen them side by side. butler creek is made cheap plastic and has less steep feed lips than the ruger mags(and yes they use the same feed lips as the 10 round box mags) and the ruger mags are made out of weapons grade polymer.

butler creek has plastic feeding lips. they may not fail. they probably won't fail. but for 5$ or 10$ why chance it? get the ruger name brand mag. it's the only one i own. i've shot others and heard problems. own ruger. never heard a whisper of inconvenience.

I ordered a couple of the bx-25s directly from Ruger when they first came out. Mine rattled when empty, but once pressure was put on the spring it stopped. As someone else said, they fit surprisingly loosely in the gun. They could wobble side to side and front to back. The front to back wobble resulted in a some feeding problems and the side to side wobble was just annoying.

I layered some tape on them (like the other poster did) and this helped, but it seemed to me that something made BY Ruger for a Ruger gun should not require me applying tape to make it function correctly. I sent them back. I figure I'll try one again someday and see if I maybe just got a couple that were made before all the bugs were worked out. I really wish Ruger would make a reliable drum, teardrop, or double stack mag. IMO, single stack 25-rounders are cumbersome and dorky-looking. 30-round double stack mags made by other companies look nicer, but just are too prone to problems.

I just picked up a ruger bx-25 mag yesterday at the gun show and im very happy with it! It does rattle when emtpy which first worried me but once the first round is put in it stops. I have put close to 200 rounds through it to test the mag, some slow shots and others as fast as i could empty the mag and haven't had a single hickup or misfeed. Im definitely going to buy some more and just stick with ruger mags
