Best Leather IWB holster.

I want a leather IWB holster but there is a lot of different options. Any suggestions? and are the CrossBreed holsters any good?

The best leather IWB holster that I have used is a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2, but there is a 8 month wait time, that should tell you something.

A close 2nd is a Brommeland Max Con, about a 6 week wait.

I agree, the VMII is probably one of the better, leather wise.

Skip anything that is "rough out". They suck up moisture like a sponge.

If you sweat, I'd recommend looking into a good kydex IWB holster.

The VMII's are available for a premium on a sooner basis. I usually havent had to wait for more than a month for the ones I've bought. Top Gun Supply is pretty good at getting them in on a regular basis, and if they are out, will email you when they do come in. They carry them for 1911's, Glocks, and SIG's. They seem to do a brisk business in them, and while they are showing "sold out" right now, I doubt you'll have to wait to long if youre interested.....

I have a couple of R Grizzle Leather holsters. They are very comfortable and very good quality. Wait time for the last one was around 3 to 4 weeks. The City Slicker is an IWB and very adjustable.

You can contact Ryan and if there is any questions or features you would like to add. These are made to order and not just pulled off the shelf.

On my City Slicker I asked for an additional hole to allow the clip to be adjusted more then normal. This allows me to also carry as a cross draw for those long road trips.

I carry my Kahr CW-9 in a Crossbreed Supertuck Deluxe.

Once I had it adjusted right I barely knew it was there. Yeah, a Kahr is a pretty slim gun, but I like the holster, it is a nice design. The holster is nicely formed and the gun just about clicks in and comes out nicely.

On the downside you really have to undo your trousers to put it on or take it off, the holster not the gun.

I would get horsehide, it resist sweat better than cowhide and also take a look at comptac holsters, similar to crossbreed.

TT Gunleather makes a nice copy of the VM2, at half the wait time. I have heard nothing but good reports about his work.

What are you looking to holster?

I have several Crossbreeds and they are great. For all leather, I have a couple from Tucker Gun Leather and would recommend them. I also like the Tucker IWB mag holders.

I love the milt sparks summer special, and just about anything made by Fist-Inc.

This is the Fist-Inc IWB tuck-able for my CZ PO-1.

They make them in Kydex as well. Leather or Kydex they are both wonderful.

The leather has held up and still looks perfect to this day, this pic was taken in early 2006.

I agree with the Milt Sparks VM2 holsters. I have two of the Horsehide ones, and they are better for summer use where you sweat a lot.

Kramer - horsehide - is a very good holster. They have a good website as well and lots of options. I like the forward FBI tilt...

I use UBG he has made me several holsters over last 6 years. pretty fast turn around ,
For all the Spark lovers I bought one It was the most uncomfortable holster I have ever bought . Has had at least 2 owners after me. No one keeps was SUMMER SPECIAL FOR A 1911 .
I will keep my UBG's

I bought a hand-made holster off some kid at a local gun show last week. It was only $30, real leather, good steel snaps, but I didn't think it was any good because it didn't look like my other holsters.
Best IWP holster I ever used - I wish to Hell I'd got his name, phone number, something. I just hope he's at the next show....

I've tried a lot of holsters but the best quality for a still reasonable price and lead time is the COMIII by HBE. I think the quality rivals the sparks and is definitely better than the brommeland in my opinion. I had the Brommeland and it is good but I found the straps to be a bit narrow and thin and I found the HBE COMIII to be a better holster. It's priced at around $109 which isn't cheap but when you see the quality you understand why. The Milt Sparks holsters are good, great even but they have the name recognition that has driven up the price and lead time beyond what the quality would necessarily dictate. It's kind of like a honda or toyota being a bit overpriced because they are good but have gotten a reputation that's pushed their value a bit further than the actual value of the product. I call it marketing momentum.

I'd consider the COMIII from HBE specialty leather works. UBG holster is a second to HBE. It's not really close but a good second.

One thing about a Sparks VM2 holster, if you don't like it, you can sell it for more than you paid for it. You can't do that with a HBE, UBG, Brommeland, or most any other brand of holster. I would call that a good value.

Ace Case Holster

I ordered an Ace Case Holster for my short barrel 9mm. It was 9 bucks. I was suprised with the quality and speed of delivery. I sprayed it with waterproof boot spray so not to soak up sweat. I carry it in SOB and it is great. I also have Galco, Uncle Mike's and Kydex holsters so it's not my first. Bottom line is it's well worth the money.
