Best Glock for my needs?

Wow seems like the Glock 19 is the way to go! I will take a look at the Glock 26 too.

A year ago I would have strayed away from the G19 simply because it was hard to find 9mm around here, but it seems to be much easier to find now.

A bit off topic, but if I were to get a G19, what holster would you guys recommend? Crossbreed Supertuck seems really nice, my buddy has one.

I am not a glock "guy but if I were to get another one it would be a 32 {357sig}, with a ghost 3.5lb trigger {$50ish}, extended mag release {$15} and an extended silde stop {$9}, and a fiber optic sight set {say $80}..

Or just get a m&p or XD, lol, just kidding, good luck with your decision, 357 is an awesome round, but if you are target shooting and dont reload it may get expensive compared to some other calibers...

Another vote for the G27. It is very accurate for me and with the pinky extension it fits my hand well. More punch then the 9mm but not as harsh as the 45 in a smaller pistol. A very nice package for concealed carry or just out practicing at the range.

If you only get to have one, I would say the G19. (I don't have one)

If you are going to get more than one, make it a G17 and a G26. (That's what I have)

I either use a lou alessi IWB holster or a kydex hoffners. The hoffners is a paddle holster which i recommended and love. I forget the model but it is a "minimalist" holster if that makes sense.

Probably IWB, and I think leather would be more comfortable

I have been carrying a Glock 19 in a DeSantis Cozy Partner for nearly 15 years. It is exceptionally comfortable to use. This holster as tons of forward cant and the 19 disappears when carried strong side. There are two problems with this holster: 1) the mouth is not metal lined, so it's not great for training and 2) the belt loops are very large. You cannot get around the training aspect, but it's fine for daily carry. You won't be doing hundreds of draws in the heat (it'll collapse when it gets soggy). The loops are easy to fix: unscrew and rip off the leather loops (they add glue) and replace them with rubber straps from knifekits.com or blade-tech.com. You can use two singles or a merged double.

NOTE: Milt Sparks spare leather loops for The Heritage fits perfectly over the holes. They are available in 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 1 3/4" sizes.

Regarding grip extensions for the Glock 26:

I use different base plates depending upon the requirements for the job. The standard flat base is the most concealable and I use this for pocket carry or when I am wearing a tighter shirt. The Scherer Grip Extension doesn't improve my shooting, but makes lengthens the grip such that it extends over the leather of my belt when the gun is carried in the appendix position. This facilitates the draw without reducing concealability since the extension is on the front of the grip. I carry spare magazines; either the Glock 26 13 round magazines or Glock 19 magazines with A&G Grip Adapter depending upon location. If the magazine is carried up front next to the gun, I put a 13 round magazine in a Milt Sparks IPS. If I carry a spare behind the hip, I typically use a Glock 19 magazine.

The Glock 19 magazine with A&G Grip Adapter creates a nice "bobtail" grip shape. I find this to be very comfortable to shoot with.

Well when I go into a shop I will take a look at the G26. I am very familiar with the G19 as my dad has one. Just got back from shooting the G19 at the range today.

I carry the 19 with the Crossbreed SuperTuck. I can't imagine a better combination for a carry rig. I used to have a 26 and a 17. I miss the 17. Don't get me wrong, I loved the 26, but find is has no advantage over the 19.

I have Winthrop leather IWB holsters for all of my pistols, and am pleased with their durability and comfort, especially for the price and with having an option between loop or clip belt retainers on most models (I prefer the loop models).

The G19 & CBST is an excellent combination for carry. At least, it has been for me. I avoided Glocks like the STD of the gun world for many years. Then I bought one about a year and a half ago, and as much as I hate to admit it, my G19 gets more holster time than any of my other carry guns at this point. I follow the "carry the biggest gun that you can carry comfortably" line of thought, and the G19 fits that model. It's large enough to shoot well, small enough & light enough to carry easily.

If you're going to go IWB, I do suggest a CBST or some other kydex/leather hybrid. If you simply have to have an all-leather IWB, get something with a reinforced mouth. Otherwise, the tension in your belt will close it up every time you take the gun out of the holster (as tomrkba points out happens with his holster). The CBST's kydex shell doesn't suffer from that.

If you're going to carry, let me also suggest that you invest in a good gunbelt, if you do not have one. Having a proper gunbelt makes a huge difference in ease and comfort of carry.

Another vote for the G19, I have carried one for 12+ years. Now I have a Gen 3 and a Gen 4. I also have a G17 and a G26 and love them both but they are a good reference as to why the 19 is so popular for concealed carry. The 17 is a great shooter, I use it for IDPA and other competitions, even carry it while I,m hunting sometimes. But its a big gun and difficult for me to conceal on my "fireplug" carcass in anything short of a heavy coat or oversized jacket. The 26 is also a great shooter and easy to conceal but in todays world I feel a little "underarmed" with the 10+1 vs the 15+1 option. I also have more trouble getting a firm grip on the 26 out of the holster. In my mind, if I add a grip extender to help with those issues I may just as well carry the 19. I don't normally carry a BUG, but if I do the G26 is good in an ankle holster or in a "weak side" hip holster and is great for a small fanny pack (yea, I know) for hiking jogging or fishing something like that in a "low risk environment.
Go with the 19 you can't go wrong.
