Best feeding .45acp hollowpoint ammunition

1911's are designed as a defence firearm , the bullet it is designed for is a 230 grain full metal jacket. That's all I use in my 1911 with zero feed problems. Any round nose bullet will work just fine.

I have a Kimber Ultra Covert, in 45acp
That being said, possibly none.
I was going to post links to lots of threads on various forums dealing with Kimber feed problems. But it might be better for you to just google "kimber ultra covert hp feed problems" for yourself.

I don't own a Kimber Ultra Covert but have found Remington Golden Sabers to feed in a couple of 1911s that have choked on other hollow points.

The Remington Golden Saber has always been noted for feeding properly in a 1911. I've used it for years.
Correct, and Golden Saber has been my choice for carry ammo for years. It has now been "discontinued," but the replacement is the same ammo in a different box ... with a higher price per round.

My EDC is a Kahr CM45. Its not a 1911, but it is a 3" 45acp, and has a reputation for being finicky. It has never failed with over 700 Remington Golden Sabers. I now use Golden Sabers in every gun I use for defense, including my 9mm ARs

You're welcome, Oldjarhead. Better late than never, I suppose.

What name is the Golden Saber being sold under now, Aguila? I haven't bought any lately.

I've never owned a 3 in 1911. But JMB did not design a 3 in 1911,and the 230 gr may not be the best.
I recall an old Bill Wilson e-letter that suggested lighter bullets. The lighter slide runs slide velocity up. Stroke is a bit shorter. So your cartridge has less time to feed.

I might take care with my mag springs. Moderate 185 gr loads. ...but like I said,I have zero experience.

I've never had feed problems with my compact .45 . . . until the springs get old.
I changed from 230s to 185s because of the Bill Wilson piece.
Only so much spring can be crammed into a short mag along with six or seven rounds, so lightening the spring's burden makes sense.
I've always been a fan of heavier bullets, placing penetration ahead of all concerns other than marksmanship, but the gun has to run reliably, first.

My RIA Officer compact runs great with 185 Hornady FTX. I use WWB 185 FMT for practice. About every other range trip I fire off the FTX and buy another box for EDC.
