CZ or Ruger? Others?

preferably lefty, does any big retailer have good lefty selection?

Which action is slicker between CZ and Ruger?

I prefer Winchester with Ruger a strong 2nd place finisher. But Winchester doesn't make a left handed version. My brother is lefty and prefers right handed bolt guns to the left handed versions.

Of the 2 I'd vote Ruger.

Model 70 Winchester. Left-hand? There are currently three lefties on GB, but they are priced out of the ballpark. But I wish you good fortune in your quest.

I don't know availability but you could try calling K-Var or J&G Sales and check on what's available in a Zastava M70 LH rifle. They probably aren't as refined as the CZ action, but they are solid and serviceable hunting rifles.

The actions in the Zastava M70's are basically the exact same thing as the action in the Yugo Mauser except it's smoother and more refined. I wouldn't be surprised if extractors and collars were interchangeable.

I have both Ruger and Winchester model 70 in featherweight configuration, I like both but usually reach for the Winchesters I have (3) Rugers (2) when I hunt or go to the range. I prefer the claw extractor plus I like the looks of both rifles, it's that simple! I should mention all five rifles will group sub MOA and that's about as good as I can shoot anymore with 73 year old eyes..William

Cooper's are push feed, as far as the Montana rifles go I'm waiting on my first to be delivered. If you are wanting a good deal on a Montana become a member on 24 Hour Campfire, Whittaker's Gun Shop is doing a 25 rifle group buy every three months. He orders 20 right hand rifles and 5 left hand rifles, the first buy was .260 Remington and the second was .243 Winchester. I got in on the second group buy and am waiting on the rifle to be built and delivered.

I might of screwed up!

The Savage 99's are CRF and fit left hand riflemen!

That "Montana" looks like a very heavy rifle!

My vote is for the Ruger-but you wouldn't go wrong with any of the rifles suggested. Pick them up, bring them to your shoulder and buy the one that feels and handles the best for you.
