Best choice of these 45s?

I am thinking about getting a nice full size 45. It won't be for CCW, but instead will be more of a range gun or just something for me to pick up and smile at. :)

Of these 45s, which would be recommended, and why? Please limit your choice to these 45s as I have pretty much narrowed it down to these three guns.

1. Sig 220 - blue
2. Para-Ordnance P14-45 - stainless
3. CZ-97B - blue

of those choices i'd opt for the Sig 220. very nice reliable, accurate pistol. sigs just don't feel right in my hands but if they did i'd like them a lot more. however, that's just a personal thing i feel they are excellent handguns. if i were going to get one just to shoot a lot at the range i might wait a little while for the all stainless model. they're gotta be a lot more durable than the aluminum framed ones even though the aluminum framed ones will last a long time.

Since you've said it won't be for concealed carry, I'd probably go with the CZ-97.

Its a heavier gun, and has a longer barrel; that should make it slightly more comfortable to shoot and possibly easier to shoot well. (The SIG P-220 is very accurate too. Don't know about the Para-Ordnance...)

I had a P-220, and it was very accurate, but I could never really master the DA to SA transition. I've had that problem with several SIGs. I don't have SIGs any more.

My vote goes to the Para Ordnance. I have three and they all shoot great. I shot my completely stock P-13 today and it even makes me look good!

The only Para-Ordinance I ever had was the biggest lemon I've EVER encountered. Pure POS.

IMHO it's a total toss up between the Sig P220 and the CZ97. Either one would kick butt, if money is an issue get the CZ and you will be well served.

I'd say get the CZ 97B. Its a fabulous pistol and the accuracy will amaze you. Also, it has top notch balance and ergonomics (if your hands are medium to large size).

A close second (runner up) would be the Sig Sauer P220.

I used to swore by Kimbers and single-stack 1911s of the like. But after I shot a Para-Ordnance P14 my mind was opened once again - a very nice gun for the price. Excellent trigger, nice grip, (not any wider than my G21), plus you have the option to get hi-caps.

Lightsped,

I can highly recommend the CZ97. Personally, I prefer the "polymer" finish but to each their own.

The 97 is the most accurate pistol I own, hands down. If you're looking for something to enjoy taking to the range this is the one.:)
