I am thinking about going wild bore hunting next year but not sure what to get I got 30.06 and a .44mag but I am thinking I may need bigger, never been hunting before so i thought I would you guys that have what is good and what you would suggest I am open for thoughts. Do I need more Or do I have enough? My garand I could take and place a adjustable gas port to allow for heavier bullets, my .44mags both rifle and pistol I have. Marlin 336 and my super Black hawk. Do to those taht have been on these hunts do you think i have enough fire power or would you suggest more?

It depends on how your going to hunt Boar, If you are using Dogs, you want a .22 Rimfire or Magnum for when the dogs bay, or Shotgun with buckshot for heading them off at a crossing.
If you are still hunting hogs from stands, a 30 06 or similar would be great, because then you would have some range and power. Good luck.

As previously stated, your deer rifle will do fine for wild hogs and there are many, many cartridges that will do the job up easily.

I use a .45LC in a lever action for Wild Hogs and it seems to be the perfect setup for the fast, heavy brush, short range shots I get in my part of Texas.

The 250 grain Hornady Lever Revolution bullets in hand loads can not perform better. Perfect expansion and hogs are 100% DRT.

I think a night vision scope would be the perfect accessory for a hog gun.

If you have a lever rifle in 44 mag I'd take that. A Garand is a bit heavy to hump all day unless you are anticipating long shots.

You don't need an adjustable gas port if you handload. Use a 165/168 gr bullet and IMR4895, H4895 or IMR4064 and you'll be good to go. The Garand does have a narrow pressure range to work with, but as long as the bullet isn't above 175 grains the stock gas system will work (think the old M72 match load).

Dog hunting = Pig sticker

Stand hunting or stalking = Deer rifle or similar

Driving or Jump Shooting = Shotgun and buckshot.

Your 30'06 and 44mag will do just fine.

It amazes me the number of folks that think these things are indestructable, snarling, predators that will hunt you down and eat your guts while you're still alive. Heck my .243 has pulped many a hog melon and the bigger rounds make a downright mess.

boar are pretty easy to kill. in texas the most heavily used caliber is .223 but since they are pretty much a pest wherever they roam, they have no bag limits so I suggest you use your 06 and 44 and blast away. depending on shot placement you ruin a bit of meat but since you can hunt year round it's no big deal.

PS, this thread is probably more suited to the hunting forum.
