Best .50 Rifle and Optics

Let us know what you end up with. I love drooling over other guys' toys...

There always seems to be the same guy with a Bushmaster .50 at the range when we're there, I've only spoken casually with him but FWIW he's definitely happy with his, but I don't know the specifics.

I do know...we keep several benches away when he's shooting ;)

Serbu's are made locally to me, and we see them fairly regularly. Most comments are positive as an "entry level" .50, but from what I've heard you get, what you pay for, in the accuracy dept.

I got one of these iver Johnson AMAC single 50's. Little over 3 grand for outfit and 300 rounds ammo. Puts a real big smile on ones face. Cheap $800. scope but has lasted so far.

I thought the same thing...cripes, what a barrel...gotta weigh fifty fricking pounds...looks like he made the action, as well.

I noticed the stock looks flat and flared on the bottom...please tell me he doesn't shoot that thing free-recoil...

Homemade, lathe-turned bullets...holy crap.

Some guys, got way toooo much time and money....

Have you figured out which one you're getting?? WE CRAVE PICTURES!

I was looking at .50s last night after reading here, they get spendy!!! I only shoot them when my rich uncle issues me ammo, which is rare, but memorable.

You will love it. The accuracy is great with the AR-50's. Take a video camera and record the first shot you fire off. It is always nice to see a new 50 owner fire off the first shot with their new toy. I shot many before I finally bought my first. The smile from shooting your own will last for a few hours if not a day or two.

I can only imagine... shoulda seen the smile when I walked into my FFL to pick it up. First time I ever bought a gun that COMES WITH TYLENOL! LOL! :D

The muzzle brake didn't bother me on the ar-50 I shot. It is the same as my Bushmaster or the 82A1 I shot. It is only a problem at an angle away from the shooter. All 50's have this issue unless they are suppressed. Just the nature of the muzzle brake. The AR-50 is far easier on your shoulder, it has a very very effective brake on it. Enjoy man, you will have to post up some videos of you shooting it.

Shot the AR50 for the first time this weekend... one word:

UHHHHHHHHHHMAZING!

As for the recoil? It felt less than my AR-15/7.62!

Went through the recommended break-in of 10 rounds, cleaning after each single round (though I did shoot the first two without cleaning in between, I just couldn't help it!).... now per instructions I can go through 5 rounds at a time between cleanings for the next 15 rounds or so. Can't wait!!!

Thanks again for all the help, I definitely feel like I made the right choice!!!

Congratulations, they are a blast....umm quite literally. I was addicted years ago after touching off my first round in an M82. I still giggle like a little boy everytime I shoot mine.

Congrats.

I'm just trying to figure out how you were able to stay off the range since you bought it in August. I have the patience of a kid with a new toy when I get my hands on a new one...

What optic did you fit it with?

Congrats, I own an AR-50 also and yes, they are awesome. What scope did you end up putting on it? I have the 5.5-22x56mm NXS and it works great out to 2000 yards. I'm posting from my phone right now or else I would post some pics.

Put some up so we can check out your new toy.

If your 50 would be used at 100 yards or less, a .500 Nitro Express double rifle from H & H with a 1x scope; post reticule.
