What would be the best .45acp for concealed carry. Would have to be 100% reliable with JHP,accurate, sturdy(can handle +P ammo) and lightweight (comfortable to carry). Also what ammo would you use with your choice? TIA

The USP45c easily fits all your requirements and would be my choice above all. Load it with 185gr Gold Dot or Golden Saber - or the 200gr +p Gold Dot.

I carry a HK USP 45 about 80% of the time.
My girlfriend carries an HK USP 45 Compact about 50% of the time. Both are loaded with Cor-Bon 165gr and have been 100% reliable.

If you like a single action pistol. it is hard to beat the Cplt Lightweight Commander.
If you want double action capability, I favor the SIG-Sauer P220.

I've owned a Colt's Lightweight Commander for years. It's my main carry gun. I have no trouble concealing it in a Kramer Pro-Line strong side holster. It's very, very reliable, although I don't stoke it up with +P loads. I keep it loaded with 185 gr. WW Silvertips. I'm not worried about "performance", so long as I do my part.

I also have a Star PD .45 (Interarms import), that is a very handy pistol, and easy to conceal. Even more concealable than the Colt's. It's the only pistol I've never had jam on me, no matter what ammo I've shot in it. (Again, I don't run +P rounds through it, and can't find any practical reason to do so. Just my opinion.)

I've bet my life on both those pistols, and in fact, do every day. They work for me.

FWIW. J.B.

If it's concealment I would give it to the Glock 30, hands down.

The nice part is you get accuracy and durability too.

Glock 30 loaded with Speer 200gr+P Gold-Dots.

mines amazingly accurate and controlable for its size and caliber. and of course being a glock mines 100% reliable so far.

Ronin,

I happen to like my Colt Lightweight Officer's ACP, lightly customized by Scott, McDougal and Assoc. I currently load it with 185 grain Gold Dots (Low flash, high enough velocity for expansion, and recoil isn't that bad)
If I was going to purchase a new gun for the same purpose, it would probably be a Kimber Lightweight Compact.

I just happen to like those 1911A1s

My favorite is one that Jim Garthwaite built for me. It's a lightweight Commander slide on a lightweight Officer's frame. This gives me better sight radius but conceals easily due to the short grip and weighs in at 28oz. Carry ammo is 230gr Hydra-Shok.

Glock 30. I see no need for +p ammo when the Federal Hydra Shok 165 grain Personal Defense ammo performs very well from short barrelled pistols (why deal with more recoil if its not necessary)...
