Best .380

Top 3 from my collection

I own 11 .380's for some really odd reason, and my top three are...

#3. Colt Pony, carried it for years before it was proper to do so in these parts. But I have heard its a crap shoot on getting a good one.

#2. Grendel P-12. I know, I know, but I still take it to the range and it still goes bang every single time. Best $60 I ever spent.

#1. Sphinx AT380. Without a doubt one of the sweetest guns I've ever owned. Has never failed to fire and I can chase a pop can out to 25 yds pretty regularly. It's become my wife's carry gun now, being ambidexterous and all. It's the only auto that my wife can shoot.

Anything mentioned EXCEPT the Walther would be a good choice. It may be possible to make a Walther accurate and reliable but not likely.

However the Russians figured out how to make the Walther accurate and reliable and more powerful. It's called a Makarov! Consider them!

Take care,

All the others are good too!

I like the CZ-52 followed by the makarov, when you get into the price range of the sig or walter you might as well pick up a compact 9mm para.

MP-44 has a good point. For the money, a Mak is darn hard to beat. And don't think it has to be an E. German or a Russian to be a "good" Mak. I picked up a Bulgi at a dealer the other day that looked better than my Russian. I have heard several folks report that the Bulgi Maks are more accurate than their E. German guns. A Mak is the best deal out there.

My PPK fires everytime and slides very discreetly into a shoulder holster. Looks great, no tell tale lines, and there when I need it...

.380

I currently own a Beretta 84, which has proven to be a very good gun. It is very reliable and very accurate. It is also very large for the caliber, so it mostly is carried in a fannypack or an IWB holster. To tell you the truth, I tend to carry my J-frame S&W more, because it's smaller and easier to carry.

I once owned a Colt Mustang, which I sold to a friend. As the others have stated, it was a locked breech firearm which made it very easy to shoot. It was reasonably accurate, reliable and very small.

I wish Colt still made the Mustang and that it would be approved for sale here in the Peoples' Republic. I would buy another.

My vote goes for the Sig 230-232. Mine is very accurate and 100% reliable. Its not the smallest, but the weight and feel is perfect for me.The Colt Mustang-Pocketlite would be next. The Beretta's are excellent, but for the size it seems like a waste in the .380.
