Best .357 Magnum...

In my experience: GP100 is stronger and more durable, S&W has better trigger feel, GP is normally more accurate with more different bullet weights, GP normally has at least one load per gun that gives spectacular accuracy, GP is easier to disassemble and maintain, GP front sights are easy to change.

I should add I own two 4" stainless GP 100's (but my wife carries a S&W).

Best is stainless .357 Redhawk, but try finding one of those...............

(still searching for a 5.5" as mate to my 7.5"...)

Python all the way. Had a ruger in .357 when I couldn't afford anything else. Glad I needed the money and sold it. Only gun I ever sold.

**** and wesson? no, never again. Last one was a model 41 and i'll keep it, but it has been essentially replaced with a Walther GSP

I am very partial to my Dan Wesson Model 15. I bought it used in like new condition for $200.00. Regards, Richard.

I am a confirmed (addicted?) trader, and I have tried Colt, S&W N's, L's, and K's, and even one Dan Wesson Pistol Pac. The longest held gun in my house is a Ruger Security Six we purchased new in 1976. It is still our bedside table companion.

686 6" with adjustable front sight. Fantastic to shoot.

Unfortunately the current model (5 i think) is very crappy in the trigger department, the surfaces cant hold an edge, so trigger jobs don't come out too good :(

I've got a -4, you could probably get one second hand :)

I recently bought a used Colt Trooper MK III that I really like. I can't compare it to other Magnums, having never fired any other .357. But shooting with .38 Special, it is the best wheel gun I have shot. Smooth action and great accuracy. I would always look at the used market before buying a revolver; there's some good old stuff out there.

I'd have to go with my Python as the best I've ever fired. My friend's Smith 586 and my first model Colt Trooper (v-spring) are awfully close, though!

I still like my old K-frame S&W Model 19. I won't part with it.

A pre-Model 27 S&W gets my vote. I inherited one of the very first ".357" revolvers that S&W made when they resumed production after WWII. Great workmanship, and I've never seen bluing so deep and rich looking.

Today, I'd vote for a used 686. (I won't consider a new S&W...period.)
