Bersa .380

Bersa warranty is fine. I had a 380 CC that had a small retainer clip come off and disappear, and a problem w/ the grips loosening. I had owned the gun for over 5 yrs. It cost about $10 to FedEx it to a Bersa warranty gunsmith in Indiana, they fixed everything and sent it back. Total cost to me: $10. (After thinking about this, I recalled that Bersa reimbursed me the $10.) It took about 10 days, round trip.

I have not heard of shipping a handgun for ten dollars.

How long ago was this and did you insure the package? Was it shipped overnight delivery?

You did get a relatively quick turn around. Did you request a reimbursement for shipping cost or did they automatically pay you? I never received a reimbursement, informed it was available, nor did I request one. :(

$10.57, actually. Cheapest shipping. If I remember right, I just left it at the default $100 insurance. It was 5/2015.

I called Bersa and described the situation, and the guy said no problem, we'll reimburse. I sent it to Colorado Gun Works in IN, the guy who runs the shop is a well regarded gunsmith named Honeycut?

Ibmikey: "Please do not offer remedies on repairing as both myself and best buddy are quite competent at resolving FTF issues in weapons but this one defies all of the normal corrections"

...but you didn't even try another magazine b/c of the "stupid high prices"?

All three of mine run fine, the .22 of course prefers high velocity, but the .380 and .380 plus haven't had a malfunction since I've had them.

Its hard for me not to be a BERSA fanboy, they really have a lot going for them.

I have one and it's ... eh...

I'm not overly impressed with the caliber in terms of cost versus size and performance.

Step up to a 9x19 for the same price and guns in the same general size. Much better performing caliber for self defense.

There are a lot of great options in 9x19 in terms of ammo selection and guns: Glock, XD, M&P, Kahr, etc.

9x19 costs about the same as .380 and is more available last time I bothered looking.

The Bersa 380 is about the same size as a lot of 9mm. Unless the recoil of a 9mm is bothersome, I would skip the 380. I recently bought a Bersa 22. I am quite impressed. I may get one of their 9's.

We don't really know why OP wants the Bersa .380. From a purely defensive standpoint, there are 9s of similar size, and there are .380s much smaller. But maybe he wants one just because he wants one. I have a couple of those myself.

That's what I'm thinking Steve, the small 9s are quite snappy. The .380 should cut down on recoil quite a bit, and with today's .380 ammo, it's about the same effectiveness. Tom Gresham thinks highly of the .380 with modern JHP rounds.
