Bersa .380

I have been wanting a Walther PPK/.380 for some time, but can find none available.
I have been looking at the Bersa .380 and it looks to be a pretty good pistol. Has anyone had good results with this pistol?

You won't go.........

............wrong getting one of those. And you'll have plenty of money left over for ammo with the money saved instead of the Walther!

Not a Fan. I had problems with mine. I have told the story before and will not repeat it.

Remember Bersa is produced outside the USA and does not have a factory in the USA for repairs. In the event you have a problem like I did, you will have to pay shipping to a representative for repair. It cost me around forty bucks, and my wait time was over thirty days for repair. :(

I know the old story about every manufacturer having their share of lemons. It is just more aggravating and costly when having one with companies like Bersa. I apologize in advance if things have changed with Bersa warranty work.

As you have already seen and read in this thread, there are plenty of other happy customers.

Dandy little fire arm. I also have the Walther. Bersa is just enough larger to be comfortable to shoot. I have a big "Paw" and the Walther is a touch uncomfortable. Plus BEWARE of the dreaded Walther bite from the slide recoiling. But, with all the new 9mm made available over the past two years you may wish to rethink the "lowly" .380.

Good choice

Has anyone had good results with this pistol?
Great performer and the only problem I had with it, was the caliber. I sold it and stepped up to a compact 9mm. .....

Be Safe !!!

I'll join the choir,,,

I'll join the choir,,,
I own both a Thunder 22 a well as a Thunder 380.

I shoot these guns all the time,,,
Both of mine have been exemplar performers.

I also own a Bersa 9mm UC,,,
It performs exactly like my others.

I'm a Bersa fan because they work for me.

It's a pretty sweet little pistol. My wife got one with the pinkness and fem look to it. Grips have the laser sight, which works very well. I'm not wild about the "no mag/no shoot" feature, but I'm a dinosaur, and don't much like most of the safeties I see. That pistol would be very safe with the hammer down on a loaded chamber, and no safety at all. jd

My Bersa has yet to fire a mag full of ammo without a failure. I tried to get a replacement mag and found stupid high prices.,',,,,,

You will ilike the BT 380. It is easy to shoot, reliable, very accurate and easy to field strip and clean. My BT 380 is one of my regular carry guns.

In addition to that. my BT22 is a fun shooter too.

Ditto on the Bersachat.com suggestion. The folk there are friendly and helpful. MichaelT is somewhat a celebrity expert there too.

Bersa thunder mags are about same price I pay for my walther mags for my old PPK/s

Take mag apart and clean Replacement springs cheap Pro mags make mag and sometimes they really work

MichaelT is somewhat a celebrity expert there too.

Does this count? Three mags same aim point at 25 feet.

A pair of Model 23s, the all-steel predecessor of the current Thunder .22. Both have proven to be near 100% reliable and fun to shoot.

Ours has been excellent...

As far as repair times in the 30 day time frame.....not a biggy...

In the last 12 months ive sent guns back to Ruger, Smith&Wesson, and Dan Wesson, 30 days is normal for in country repairs....

I've owned a few bersa 380s in my time and know a few others that have as well. except from the internet I've never heard a bad thing about them. I usuallt used mine as trade fodder but if money was on my side I'd keep one around if I could find another without the built in lock.

The only "common" problem that I have ever heard of (and actually have repaired a couple), is the trigger bar (also known as disconnector) spring popping out of engagement. A simple addition of a small groove (done with a needle file) in the frame solves this problem.

Guess i better clarify my previous Bersa bAshing, i got caught up reading all the people who like theirs. My Bersa pistol is a .22 not a 380, i like the pistol very much as it fits the hand very well and seems built well and is accurate when it shoots however as i stated before it will not fire a mag full of ammo without a mishap. Please do not offer remedies on repairing as both myself and best buddy are quite competent at resolving FTF issues in weapons but this one defies all of the normal corrections. I have no doubt we will overcome the Bersa's difficulties but right now it is not a top priority and a big ammo waster checking out our "doctoring".

Ibmikey: ... My Bersa pistol is a .22 not a 380...Please do not offer remedies on repairing...

OK, you don't have to read this, but I feel compelled to respond.

The BT22 can be ammo finicky, but if you commit to shooing HV ammo at least 1200 fps, copper jacketed/washed rounds you should see an improved performance. Dirty mags can be a problem too.

I have two .380's and one in .22. They have been perfect--never one single hiccup. That said, my Bersa Thunder .22 requires CCI MiniMags or Stingers to be totally reliable. Here is a target with the .380 and my handloads.
