Beretta survey

The only Beretta that I own is a .25ACP stainless Jetfire. Just another little pocket pistol. Which ever one I am carrying depends on the type of pants I put on that day.
Usually it's loaded with Fiocchi FMJ, but I have some Magsafe HP too. I've only had the Jetfire for a few months, but it's been completely reliable. The Jetfire is a well made, light little pistol that I carry around the house or keep hidden in my pocket while a larger caliber pistol is on my belt.
If the Jetfire is an indication of the quality of Beretta Firearms, I need more. :)

I've got a Mini Cougar 8040 for my CCW. It's a little chunkier than an USP Compact - but it fit the best of those I evaluated (USP, Glock, Sig & Kahr) and was the easiest to control from the onset - no having to learn how to handle the recoil or muzzle flip. The short grip also helps in concealment.

I bought a 92fs about 1 month ago and have shot it about 500 rounds so far. Not a jam, excellent trigger, and accurate. I am a believer!!!

Some don't like these pistols but I love mine.

found 2 factory hi caps for 39 bucks each at our last gun show

Have a 92 Border Marshall and am getting another one. Love this gun. The trigger is a little heavy but am getting used to it real fast. Really like the 15-round mags, which are still OK in New Jersey. A well-made gun and the rubber grips that come with it are real nice too.

Had an 8045 Mini Cougar. Never fired a pistol that ejected more brass on my head, shoulders, etc. Felt top heavy to me also. Got rid of it and haven't missed it a bit.

On the other hand, I have a Browning BDA 380 (Beretta clone). One of the most fun and accurate off-the-shelf pistols I have ever owned.

I too have a Border Marshal and my one complaint with the thing was the heavy trigger. A thread on this board suggested changing the mainspring out to an 8000 series or a 92 DAO or even a 1911 mainspring. I went with the 1911 option as I had several laying about. The trigger pull is very very sweet now and I have had absolutlely no reliability problems (i.e. light primer strikes). Give it a try, takes less than two minutes.

Numerous 92s and 96s. Put over 20K through at least one of each, no problems.

Was issued M9 off/on from 87-98. No problems.

AndABeer:

Thanks I really like the trigger on the DAO. Where can I get the 92 DAO mainspring and is this something one who has never taken a gone totally apart should do?

Thanks

I have a SS92FS and love it. The DA trigger action is better than most and single action is okay. I like mine.

Here's the thread that told me how to do it. You'll notice some suggest clipping a couple coils off the factory mainspring. I went with the 1911 spring because I had some and if I didn't like the result I could go back. I guess you could contact Beretta directly for a DAO spring if you want. Not sure where else to look.

I've got a 92 SB.. Great gun.
I like the Beretta's ability to digest any ammo, the chamber seems to be a little looser than most 9mms. I also like the chrome lined barrel and bore. The firing pin/hammer seems to strike a little harder than most other 9mms, this has allowed 92 to fire some ammo that sigs couldn't ignite. This hard firing pin strike accounts for the hard double action. The single action on it is very nice.

On the minus side, getting the thing into action (getting the first round off) is a real chore. You have to fight a safety that is upside down for us Americans (up is fire). Then you have to either cock the hammer or suffer through the longest, hardest double action trigger pull in the industry.

This is where Glocks rule.. just pull that puppy and start blasting.

I just acquired a new 9000S DAO, .40S&W. It is my first experience with Beretta. I've put about a hundred rounds of FMJ (Magtech, UMC, WinClean) through it. No malfunctions so far. It seems to hit dead on when I can control the DAO trigger. It is the first DAO auto I've had, and it is going to take some practice to get good with it. The trigger pull has a very long stroke, and is predictably hard, but it is very smooth. This is a "space-age looking" gun with excellent fit and finish of all its parts. The magazines work perfectly and go in and out like they're supposed to. This pistol is small, but it is thick from side to side. That makes it a little harder to conceal. Right now, there aren't any holsters made for this gun that I know of. It will fit in an Uncle Mike's belt slide o.k. One thing I noted about it is that everything on this gun requires muscle to operate. The lady who sold it to me is an experienced shooter and gun dealer and she couldn't operate the slide. The takedown lever is also hard to operate, and left me with sore fingers after two cleaning sessions. All that being said, I like the pistol so far. Has anyone else had any experience with this model?
