Beretta PX4 vs Stoeger Cougar

I've not had the opportunity to fire the Px4 Storm, but I do own a Stoeger Cougar 8040F.

I'm very happy with the Cougar, which I picked up at Academy a few years back for maybe $400?

For the $300 Academy wants for a new one today I would be tempted to pick one up, then again if you have the extra cash to spring for the Px4 and like Polymer firearms, grab the Beretta.

EDIT: I'm still having trouble finding a holster that will fit the Cougar, due to the front rail.

Grand Power does the rotating barrel thing better than anybody IMO. They are also fully ambi (not reversible, actually ambi), and have a frame mounted safety instead of the slide mounted mess on the Beretta. Obviously Beretta makes good stuff, but the Grand Power line will fit what you are looking for better most likely. They also have better triggers.
I do not know much about the Grand Powers. Can you enlighten me? And do they have a .40 model?

A Simple and cheap way to try out these guns is to go to your local "big box" retailer and buy a Crossman C-11 CO2 powered BB gun for about $30 or so. It is the same size as a Beretta or Stoegar.
Just a thought for what it's worth.

I don't know much about them either, but I do remember running across them during some of my searches. I didn't realize they implemented the rotating barrel system though.

They do make a .40 model, as well as .45 and 10mm. I can't seem to find too much information on those specific models, but what I have found seems to be rather favorable. The 9mm series seems to get really good reviews though.

I may actually consider one of these as my next purchase if I can find a little bit more information about the .40. I only wish the frame was metal, but with the rotating barrel, it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

They aren't your typical polymer frame. The entire chassis is steel (not just a couple tiny sections of the rails).
There's a few video reviews out there and I've reviewed mine here before. The P1 or K100 are both about the same size as a PX4, with the P1 being just a tad shorter in length. The P11 is smaller and I haven't handled a P40 yet, but they look slick

The polymer frame/grip of the PX4 has a slick feel to it so I put a Hogue slip on grip on it.

I too feel the Px4 is a little slippery, although it may be one of those things which only occur to me when dry firing, not actually shooting.

So I just had the removable backstrap stippled. It gives just a little bit more grip than the stock one.

I'm also in the camp of thinking that the stock grip surface on the PX4 is a bit too slick, so I had a full wrap stipple job done on mine, and it made a world of difference for the positive. That thing is not moving in my hand now!

Concerning the Grand Power, I have a P1 Mk7, and had a big write up on it about a couple of years ago on here. I have it loaned out to a friend right now, and I know he is probably shooting it more than I am (hoping he'll buy it to be honest).

It is a very nice pistol with a much simpler rotating barrel setup than Beretta, but it has actually spent more time locked up "collecting dust" for me than getting used. Just a little large for my liking compared to the pistols I carry on a regular basis.
