Beretta M9A3

Your comments have me curious. You notice no difference in the quality of the trigger pull between the Wilson and the M9A3? Would have thought the Wilson was polished internally. I would think you'd at least notice a difference with the D spring.

BOTH guns come with a D spring installed - the Wilson AND the M9A3. They come that way from the factory. Some people may not realize that about teh M9A3.

Wilson does ZERO to their Beretta - it comes straight from the factory to Wilson, and then they ship them out (it's just built to Wilson's specs, with some Wilson parts). Bill Wilson has said so himself on the Beretta Forum.

You can pay EXTRA for a trigger job. But otherwise... While the Wilson Brig is very tight and uses their parts - the trigger is no different than any other Beretta 92 variant with a D spring - as far as the feel of the trigger pull is concerned

The M9A3 actually has been massaged somewhat - I do not know what they do to it exactly, but the DA trigger on the M9A3 is much smoother. Everyone with one has said the same.

When you are about 1/2 way thru the DA trigger pull - you feel a "rough" spot on the Wilson Brig, a regular Brig, and my other 92 models. On the M9A3 - there is no rough spot. The weight of the trigger is the same as any other 92 model with a D spring - but it is a little smoother.
So, comparing both guns together... Guns WITHOUT trigger jobs done by Wilson - the M9A3 actually has the better feeling trigger

Nice! Thanks I've been considering a Wilson 92G so all of this is really helping me figure out if I want to take that plunge or just go a different route. Part of my issue is I don't like the Vertec grip, but with the included grip I can replicate the indented feel right?

Yes, I don't like the Vertec grip either. And, the pre-production models had a strange looking additional grip that appeared to be polymer. This Hogue grip in the final version feels great.

I took a chance on it - because no gunshop will let ya swap the grips to feel the add on grip on the gun. But, it feels great. It's not too fat - as I have small hands. You also cannot fell where the grip ends and the metal starts on the backstrap.

It really synthesizes the feel of the original curved grip.

I knew that as big of a Beretta nut I am, I would end up getting it anyway. I was hoping I wasn't making a mistake, but I took a chance anyway - and I am glad I did.

In fact, the gun is tighter than my Wilson. The barrel and locking block/recoil spring have to sit just perfect, or the slide won't go back on the gun. I'd never seen this on any Beretta 92 variant before. It it is off one way or the other to the side even a little - you can't get the slid eon. The first time I took it apart, it took me a few tries to get the slide assembly back on.

I even put just the barrel with the block onto the frame - to see how it fit.

I love the new M9, but the new tan 1911 the Marines are using would be a far better combat pistol. Much greater stopping power and accuracy than the 9.

You mean the Colt M45A1?

Yep, it's sure to make that cute lil' old M9A3 mini-meter tuck tail and run off and hide ... :p I mean, it IS a Marine 45, after all ...

Yeah, just kidding ... :D

Seriously, I do like the look of the M9A3 and would like to shoot one someday, but none of the LGSs around here has one in stock. Thanks to Jagrbomb for posting the write-up and the pics too.

M45A1.

What's with all the tan guns only? I would love to see the M9A3 in black. Much better looking to me and more serviceable to carry for work. I carry my 92FS for work and I'm very happy with this gun.

If they sell well enough, I suspect that we will see them in black. Also, if Beretta loses the military contract entirely, they will have to court the civilian population to buy their products. Then we will probably see even more cool stuff

While I really like my M9 and would be interested in the M9A3, the price and the color turn me off. I don't live in a desert. I know our troops have done a lot of work in deserts, but for a civilian gun there's really nothing wrong with basic black. While I don't really concern myself too much with color, it doesn't take much for me to balk when I get to the kilobuck price level... for a gun I don't really need at a high price even that desert tan makes me give it a miss.
