Beretta 92s opinions

I agree with all said. I received a really nice one last year that looked almost perfect. The small sights are the weakest part of the design but the pistol works very well in every way. I got some extra 14 round mags from Midway last summer that were inexpensive and work very well. I generally load them to 12 rounds due to the strong springs in the mags.

She arrived today and she's purdy! I have to finish up some work but I'll try to get her cleaned up and some pics afterwards. She's full of factory grease but I'm not complaining. Beautiful condition; I'm a happy boy! :D. Thank you SOG!!!

She's still a grease ball but getting there....

The grip panels/circumference look smaller than the 92FS. Can you confirm that? All in all, I agree, it looks like a good solid pistol and not worn much at all. Congratulations on a fine addition to your collection. Rod

rodfac, she's about 6" mid grip with the panels installed. That is a rough measurement.

WVsig, I chose "like new" condition. Is it normal for these to be packed in grease? I ask because if she's been shot,it wasn't much. She's a BZ line from 2005.

Yes they were in storage so packed in grease is par for the course. Nice gun looks like you did well.

Here are a few more pics of mine.

The locking wedge problem has always been a problem.I had their earlier M51 Commander [single column] and the wedge failed .The importer refused to respond ! I think it may have been that the Italians had a 9mm Glisenti cartridge that had the same dimensions as the 9mm Luger but with lower pressure .Their guns may have been designed for that and never changed for the Luger.
Any way the wedge failed . With the later guns DA, at one point a repair kit was available which included the wedge. I'd like to know exactly what the difference between the two wedges.
I'd stay away from the hotter loads if I had one !

Nice gun WVsig! I really didn't understand what the big deal about Baretta was until I racked the slide and played with the safety and fire options. Now I understand.

mete, thanks man. These surplus models seemy to be from the early/mid 2000's. Hopefully that was corrected but I'll be mindful.

I bought two Beretta 92S pistols both came as near new condition although from two sources. The pistols are very accurate and reliable however i cannot get any kind of a good feeling for them finding they are large and do not fit my hand well so into the safe they go and i shoot pistols i like more. Magazines are readily available but you do need to watch for the mag cut out toward the bottom. In the surplus modern handgun market my P 6 seems to be a favorite.
