i've been reading this forum for over a year, reloading for about nine months and shooting all my life. i own several revolvers and several semis. i want to add 2 more to my collection before i will be satisfied. i have settled on a gp 100 for the revolver but can't decide between the beretta 92 commercial, the cz 75 b and the baby eagle. my semi must be 9mm, all metal, full size, have a hammer, be a weekly shooter and something my grand daughter will appreciate one day. also under $600 or very close to it.

i would appreciate information from those of you who actually own one of these guns. i have already ready read all the reviews and manufacturer descriptions.

i appreciate all that i have learned on this forum especially about reloading - good information.
thanks.

FWIW, I'm also looking at a GP100 as my "then I'll be satisfied with my revolvers" gun. Right now I'm satisfied with my only semiauto - G19.

I was tossed up between the CZ and Beretta myself. I recently chose the 75b because of the SA option. Doesn't mean the 92 isn't next on my list though. My fiance' laughed at me this am when I talked about being satisfied with guns. Good luck with that!

Another vote for some version of the CZ 75 B here.....may want to go with the non omega version just for "tunability" and parts options.

Good luck on the "my last gun" thing, that only works for those who don't really have an interest in firearms. The fact you want a nice revolver and all steel semi-auto takes you out of the "one and done" class. You realize there's more to firearms than just "tools".

I already have the next 6-9 semi-autos and revolvers listed in my head.

Haha. I think you meant to say two more in a certain size. Then two more in a certain caliber. And then youll find another purpose for two more.

Anyway. My answer is a little biased but if its worth anything here you go. I don't know what the Beretta commercial is but I love the Beretta 92/series. I personally think its the greatest handgun ever made with the exception of concealed carry purposes. It is downright my favorite pistol ever. So of course I'm gonna tell you to go with that. But its incredibly accurate, reliable, low recoil, the list goes on. So with that said I'll give you my opinion on the others.

To be honest, I'm really not attracted to the cz series. Just don't like them. And I am not at all saying that there a bad gun. In fact I've heard nothing but great things about them. Just not for me.

The baby eagle is in my list of "only two more, haha" I've never held or fired one. Heard a mix of opinions on them, don't care, still want one.

So with that said, obviously my vote is Beretta. Any Beretta questions? Feel free to ask!

I have a 92 and a baby eagle. They are my two best shooting DA guns. I shoot better with the baby eagle most days but that's entirely personal. The 92 has never jammed, the baby eagle stovepipes with winchester white box every few magazines.

Of the listed three, I would choose the CZ-75B.

However... in owning what I own, shooting what I shoot... and knowing what I know, I would rather have the Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match, imported by EAA. It won't be had for $600 or under, but $700 is do-able and it'll run circles around the three choices.

I recommend the CZ 75 B.

By the way, the Baby Eagle is a clone of the CZ 75, so you are favoring that design over the Beretta 2:1.

They are all nice guns, but I would get the 75B first, and the 92FS second. The CZ pistols are addictive as they are very well made, accurate, reliable, and attractive. They are also still fairly priced, but so are the Berettas.

Owning both Berettas and CZs, and having owned a Baby Eagle I may be totally unqualified to respond to this, but here goes...

I owned a Baby Eagle for a short time and found it 'adequate', but otherwise unimpressive. It did not linger in my collection long as there were no unique or singular virtues to the design. It does everything a CZ does, being a copy of a CZ, but it does not do it with the same balance and grace possessed in the original CZ.

I have an early (1990's), vintage Beretta M9 and an even older Beretta 92 SB. Neither has been modified and both are reasonable choices for a combat handgun / self defense handgun. Although the M9 is fairly new to me, the SB has provided years of satisfactory, if unremarkable shooting fun.

I also have an early (1982), commercial production CZ75, and last week I traded my CZ75B stainless for a CZ75B Omega. These see considerably more range time than my Berettas for the simple reason their triggers, balance and ergonomics are smoother and more appealing to me.

Then there is the CZ75 TS. "Wow" is completely inadequate to describe this handgun. It is as close to perfection out of the box as any handgun I've ever owned or had the pleasure to shoot.

At the end of the day, I would recommend you handle and shoot both the Beretta and CZ and decide for yourself which one you have a personal preference for. For me, it's the CZ, though they present no reason to toss out the Beretta.

The GP100 is a wonderful choice. I've had mine tuned up and it really is a fantastic handgun. With the exception of an old S&W Model 28-2, there is probably not another wheelgun I'd rather have in my range bag.

The only advice I'd give is to drop the Beagle; it's based on the CZ-75B, but with a slide mounted decocker safety, so you may as well get the original for less money.

I personally prefer the CZ, but both are quality guns which will soak up the recoil. The CZ is more comfortable in my hands, but that's a personal thing and won't necessarily be the same for you. I think the Beretta is prettier, but both are really, really, ridiculously good-looking. You can't go wrong wirh either.

By the way, if you're getting a GP-100, and this is your LAST revolver, you might consider splurging on one of the Wiley Clapp models (3"). They are gorgeous.

Out of the three, I much prefer the CZ 75B. I don't like the Beretta 92 design for a lot of reasons. The Baby Eagle doesn't do it for me - it's a good durable gun, but always seemed too heavy, or perhaps muzzle heavy to me.

I like the CZ 75B in either Glossy Blue or one of the stainless versions. I like to see and touch metal - don't much care for the CZ's with the coating on them - good guns, just don't like that particular finish.

I have both (the Beretta 92 FS and a CZ 85 B) and a flip of the coin would determine which one I'd keep if I could only have one. You might want to take a look at the discontinued line of Smith & Wesson "Third Generation" pistols-fine examples of pistols conforming to your buying criteria:"... my semi must be 9mm, all metal, full size, have a hammer, be a weekly shooter and something my grand daughter will appreciate one day. also under $600 or very close to it."

"...can't decide between..." Pick the one that fits your hand best. All of 'em are too big for my hand. Would have had a CZ 35 years ago when they first came to Canada, if it fit. sniff.
