Joe,

Sorry I didn't get back to you. I'm still trying to keep up with all the web sites I like, and missed your reply completely. I think you have the right idea, just stick to one. :)

Sure wish these sites would at least standardize their user name and password formats. I almost have to keep a list next to me to remind me which one's I've used! :)

Accuracy is the reason I bought my GP100, and the trigger is pretty good out of the box. I've been thinking about ordering a spring set from Brownelle's, to make it even better. Tried one at a gun show that was ezcellent, and the owner swore ti was just a spring upgrade.

Got my new chrono Monday, but it's been raining all week, so I haven't been able use it! At least the weekends have been nice.

Talk to you later.

Makes for a bit less time sitting in front of the computer.

Sounds good. I like the SA trigger pull on mine just fine. It's just the DA pull that feels bad. A local 'smith said he could fix it for about $35 or so. I just haven't got around to taking it to him yet.

Raining all week? In Seattle? How unusual. :)

Good luck with getting some better weather for a range visit this weekend.

Joe,

$35 for a trigger job sounds like a good deal to me. The spring kit is about half that, and requires a bit of time to install.

LOL! Well, no rain Friday or Saturday, and tomorrow is fully booked, so it doesn't really matter. :)

I usually shoot during the week when the ranges are not crowded.

Take care pal.

That's what I was thinking also. I've heard good things about this person's work too so I figure it's worth a try.

Sorry, I couldn't resist the Seattle joke. My sister and brother-in-law live up there and I joke around with them all the time.

Good idea. Luckily, the range I visit most often is not too crowded on most weekends. Had the whole place to myself for about an hour yesterday. :)

Joe,

Unfortunately, it's so expensive to mail handguns to out of town smiths, that local work is what most of us will have to depend on now.

How do they like this area? We love it here in spite of the rain. :)

Have you shot the Cougar again!

I went to a couple of outdoor ranges this week, wanting to join or shoot as a guest. One was closed all this week for logging, and the other turned out to be a private club, but no one was in the office to ask about membership. Have to call them to get more info.

Take care,

Bill

Otisz,

I note that you said "accurate" when describing your relatively new 8045. Can you give me some kind of idea how accurate? I mean, what size groups, at what distance, how you're holding the gun (two-handed, on the bench, etc.), and with what ammo. I've seen that pistol and it fits my hand well, but I want something that is fairly accurate. Thanks.

That's true. Unless you are getting some major custom work I think it's best to support local talent.

They like it well enough. They are not happy about the cost of living compared to Georgia but I don't hear too many complaints.

>Have you shot the Cougar again!

I took it out again last weekend and fired about 150 rounds. I still like it a lot but it's going to take a bit more getting used to. I think the HK has spoiled me with it's -real- nice SA trigger. :) Not that the Cougar's is bad, just takes a bit more of a pull and it's not quite as crisp. Still perfectly acceptable for a defensive handgun but a bit more of a challenge to get impressive groups on paper. Still not one malfunction of any kind.

Good luck in your search for a good outdoor range.

Joe,

The Cougar sounds like a keeper. How does it compare in price to the HK?

I've rented a few HKs, and they all handle well, and are accurate.

I definitely think of the Beretta as a keeper. :) I think the more I shoot it and get it "broke in" the more I will like it.

As far as new prices go, they are comparible at about $650 or so. I got a much better deal on my HK, though, as it was slightly used. :)

The Beretta is better for CCW because of size but the HK is (IMO) slightly better to shoot because it is lighter, slightly more accurate and has a better trigger.

If I get another 45 I'll probably look into the Para-Ordinance line for a 1911 style. I have a feeling that may be a while though.
