Being left handed really sucks when it comes to rifles

My brother is left eye dominant and has taught himself to shoot lefty. It was a challenge but now he out shoots me hands down. He has issues with a lot of guns due to this. His favorite was the Bushmaster BA50'(left hand bolt, right side ejection). He has looked into the lefty RRA AR's and a few bolt actions but has just finally said they weren't worth the wait time.

I'm hopelessly left handed/left eye dominate, and I've never owned a single left-handed rifle. My dad (also lefty) taught me how to shoot on righty rifles as a kid and now shooting a lefty rifle feels weird to me. If you can practice and train yourself to comfortably use a right handed bolt rifle it will make your life so much easier when it comes to shopping for a rifle.

My two cents on "wsm" cartridges: the perfect solution to a non-existent problem. You are better off with the ancient 20th century cartridges. You want a hard-hitting .270 (as if the .270win isn't plenty) get a .270 wby mag. You want a souped up .308 caliber, you have .300wm, .300 wby mag, .300 H&H, and so on. Just because its the newest doesn't mean it's the greatest.

It took a while but I can shoot a rifle either handed, just from not finding a rifle I liked in lefty. For me it was easier to shoot what I wanted and learn to switch.
Handguns are still lefty most of the times.

i'm a lefty. Traded for my first left hand rifle, a Weatherby made by Mathieu, in 1965. All my go to guns are left handers. My right hand guns seldom leave the safes.

A left hand rifle makes it so much easier.

I'm right-handed, but because I'm left eye dominant I shoot rifle and shotgun left handed.

I thought buying a lefty Savage 110 would be great. It wasn't so great. I still operate a right-handed bolt action better shooting left-handed that I do a left-handed bolt action shooting left-handed.

Same goes for the semi-auto's too. A bullpup is usually out though.

You just learn to adapt. After you learn that, the sky's the limit. You can buy and shoot well anything you like (except maybe a bullpup).

Every one is born rt handed then after a few weeks the really smart ones change over to left handed!!
I'm left handed and refuse to shoot wrong handed rifles. I've owned Weatherbys, Remingtons, Savages Mausers, and Brownings all in l/h. Also Remington shotguns in L/H. The X/P 100 pistol was great for me to shoot but posed problems for those wrong handed people that used it for IHMSA competition. My go to rifle is a Browning Stainless Stalker in 3006 and is the best quality rifle I've ever owned also the most accurate. I really couldn't ask for anything more. It shot out of the box 5/8" 5 shot groups with cheap loss leader federal ammo. It's taken 9 elk with 9 shots using Barnes 180 gr bullets. Righties don't settle for less in a gun why should we?

I agree about not compromising if you don't have to. I have really tried to convince myself that I could get used to it, because I saw a Browning stainless/composite X-Bolt in 270WSM that I really liked. After cycling the bolt a few times in the store I realized that it wasn't going to work for me. Mostly, I think, because I'm hopelessly left-eye dominant.

Are you talking about a Stainless Stalker BAR or a bolt gun. I wan't aware of any stainless left hand bolt guns from Browning.

Hi cmdc, I own a stainless stalker in left hand bolt action commonly known as an A Bolt. Don't know if their still making it but there should be a few on the used market. Mine will be for sale when I die as I have no one to pass it on to.

I just got off Brownings web site and it looks like they no longer offer the stainless stalker. What a shame as its a great rifle incorporating all the features that make for a great all weather hunting rifle.
