G,
"I found out a long time ago that unless you keep your tube of "Bore Butter" in your armpit in the cold weather, you ain't squeezing it out of the tube."
Can't comment as I have not been out in weather below 50 degrees yet. But I find that at eighty it tends to stay put, although it does not inspire my confidence. The stuff I got..(Three tubes about five months ago) is about the consistency of toothpaste and smells like a brothel.
BTW...Last Sunday when I was sealing the chambers with Thompsons, I noticed a white residue that I don't get with Crisco and wax rings. I was using Goex by that time and the powder might have been the cause. Also my bullet lube is Crisco and....you guessed it. So I am actually mixing the substances that come out the muzzle. (Bullet lube is different from chamber seal is different from propellant...blah blah blah)
"The toilet bowl rings I looked at in the HD and Lowe's stores say explicitly that they are petroleum waxes. Bee's wax is as hard at room temp as paraffin is. You will not seat a toilet on a pure bee's wax ring. Hard as a rock."
I got mine from HD so they are probably petroleum based in large part.
I know that eventually I will become more at home with the science of shooting black powder. I'll keep shooting as long as it is fun.
