Been so long gotta get a wheel gun...Blackhawk?

I really appreciate Ruger single actions and have center fires in 32 mag, 327 mag, 9mm-357, 38/40-10mm, 44 mag, and 45 Colt. I like them all but I probably enjoy the 327, 9mm and 10mm the most. The 45 Colt is a good revolver but I keep the rounds in the 20K and under range. At that pressure it is accurate, a pleasure to shoot, powerful enough for most anything I would use a revolver for, and never get you in trouble. If you want to shoot high pressure rounds, I would recommend a different caliber. YMMV

Just take a look

Just take a look at Lipsey's FLattops with the white old style grips.
Handle one with the old style grip frame before you spend your money.
I think you will use the 45 acp cylinder a lot more than the long colt.
Just my opinion.

Keep in mind that the Flattop convertible is built on the 357 frame and cannot handle the Ruger-only 45 Colt loads. If that is what you want to be able to do you will need the 45 convertible built on the 44 frame.

Yup I'm going with the Blackhawk convertible. Thanks for the heads up!

See if you can find some COP 45lc ammo. That stuff will make your gun talk. And the price is right too.
I only shoot my ammo anymore. Cast my own bullets and coat them too. I don't save more I just get to shoot more! ;) But thanks for the heads up!

ruger single action is way to go

i have ruger singles in 22lr/mag, 357/38/9mm and 45acp. i have other revolvers for ccw but the rugers are my fun guns. the twohanded grip (weak thumb to cock and strong hand to shoot) is faster and makes me more accurate than any other handgun i have shot. good luck with your decision.

I've got six Blackhawks and gave a 45 Convertible to my youngest son. Only thing they need is a Belt Mountain Base Pin and a Rough Country Rear Sight.

For a SA I want the 45LC/45acp conversion. I do want .357 but in SA/DA.

Have you considered the new-ish S&W Model 69 Combat Magnum in .44 Mag?

Last price was only $16.00 over your budget.

Just a thought.

I would be looking more for a Classic .357 in SA/DA. Looking for a Model 19.

My brother had one that ended up with my uncle when he died. He offered it back to my mom so she could decide what to do with it. Naturally my nephew (his son) would be the first choice. Problem is he has a record now and can't legally own one. Nice gun. He bought it new in the early 70's. I remember using an old Lee Whack-A-Mole and loading ammo for it. He had a trigger job done. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 2-3000 rounds through it with mostly .38's. Mechanically sound but kept in a holster too long and has some holster wear (no doubt increased due to the leather).
