ok guys,it was just a passing thought.i like bears(far away)the wife and i were talking about the bears weve seen and the cops had just tazered a dude and 2+2 =?what would happen.i would run screaming like a little girl given the chance.i have no desire to go toe to toe with a 300+lb animal.i say live and let live.thanks for the entertainment

Bears are good animals. Leave 'em alone.

that what most people do, but occasionally can be hard when the bear decides to stalk and eat you.

Worst case, use bear spray.

They have tasers that work on steers. Problem is, as soon as the taser is over, they get right back up, mad as heck.

Suspect a bears reaction would be similar...

You don't need a taser or gun or even a sharp stick. Just make sure you enjoy bear country with a friend - a friend who doesn't run as fast you.

Half ton bears up here have been using tasers for years now. They take them off of the occasional snack food, opps I mean slow people, and use them to stimulate their scalps.

Now you know why you don't see any balding Alaska Brownies. And the eagles, well they just don't want to mess with the bears.

Steer tasers? that was what I was gonna suggest, try it on a big cow or something first, that is big but does not bite. They got pretty thick hide. Otherwise a really big gun. You know, a flamethrower type device might be a powerful deterrent to a bear and does not make alot of noise or need to be aimed as precisely as a centerfire gun. IF someone could invent a compact flamethrower about the size of a sawed off shotgun with a pistol grip that is good for 3-4 good bursts of a big long flame, that could really work. Bear might figure things are getting too hot and turn tail! Probably an illegal device in many areas so you would almost have to design and build it yourself.
