Be a one issue voter

Sorry Battler, but you being anachronistic and forgetting that England was ruled by an ARISTOCRACY.
The U.S. Constitution is profoundly democratic and the majority has every right to rule just as it pleases with very narrow limitations.
You would have far more rights if you were an aristocrat living under a monarchy, but those are rightly getting hard to find these days.

Well, then, the it is obvious that the majority does not want you to have scary-looking rifles or handguns.

Democracy == no guns?

With literal interpretation of the second amendment, the majority cannot disarm the majority. Of course, things are going all "democratic" so we know what's REALLY going to happen now.

Well here we go again. NO I am not a one issue voter. Three issues define a candidate for me. Number 1 Abortion. I am pro-life with no compromise. 2. Homosexuality. It is a perverted lifestyle and should not be legitimized. 3. RKBA. That is the order of importance I place on the three major issues facing us today and in the next election. In addition a vote for a third party candidate is one less vote for GWB and increases the liklihood of AL Gore becoming the next president. Jerry

Ecclesiastes 12:13  ¶Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Herodotus : I will ask you not to confuse the two: Democracy and individual rights.

For starters, individual rights exist outside of a country's laws - Ayn Rand/a bunch of objectivist texts explain it better than I can, so I won't waste your time here.

Government/initiators of force can punish you for exercising those rights. You can exercise your RKBA by converting one of your weapons to select-fire; but then you will be sent to prison. You would be sent to prison by a law chosen and supported DEMOCRATICALLY by a majority.

Democracy is a manner by which the majority choose the laws - they can choose laws that respect individual rights, or 51% decide that Cuba does it so much better and redistribute the wealth.

This is where people describe the US as not meant to be a pure democracy; but a democratic republic (or as I like to think a limited democracy). The first amendment guarantees freedom of speech/religion - just because 98% of the populatino does not like a religion the representatives that they prevent cannot under the US system of laws prohibit that free exercise of religion. That is undemocratic - (ehheh - we've been brainwashed into thinking undemocratic == bad).

The polls aren't so rigged as to lie so heavily - a vast majority don't want you to have a machine gun, even though it's your individual right (and the right of all those who would deny you even though they have the right but choose not to exercise it).

Can you give up your rights as an individual? We can talk about them; but the majority will jail you for exercising them (unless the second amendment is restored).

I am a one issue voter. I vote for the candidate who supports my right to keep and bear arms. Not those who say it, but those who believe it and support it. Freedom is the right to own the firearm of choice. The problem today is when most politicians say they support the RKBA they really mean they "only support the right of the people to keep and bear the kinds and types of firearms they (themselves) think the rest of us should bear" (They think they themselves should not be limited, but we should). They don't really mean what I think or you think when we say the RKBA. We have a much broader right in mind.

I am a one issue voter. I vote so as to maximize my chances of protecting and keeping my second amendment rights into the future and for our children. As it is not a perfect world, I expect to have to make compromises to achieve this goal, as such is the nature of being a one issue voter.

Regards (and looking forward to the celebration in November),

Ledbetter
