Battery powered digital scales

I don't have a Tru Weigh, that is MarkCo. My Smart Weigh does not have any way to disable the auto shutoff that I can find. Reread post 37

I had a Smart Reloader model years ago. It used AAA batteries. It had a check weight with it. It worked well enough to be +/- one tenth of a grain provided the batteries were not low. I picked up a brick of premium batteries and watched the weight when I took the pan off to empty the powder. If it went off more than .1 grains without returning to zero I changed the batteries.

I gave the unit away when I was gifted the Hornady LNL APS. The person I gave it to still uses it. I am guessing about 7 years or so it has been in use. The price was around $30 from the bargain cave at Cabela's. It was opened, and the included batteries had been removed. So they knocked $15 off of the price.

My Tree KHR 123, has stopped it's drifting now also. At first it would drift 2 or 3 milligrams overnight and I would need to rezero between uses but has not drifted off zero in a week now. That larger platter and AC power with optionalk shutoff make it easier to use than the smaller Smart Weigh.

One thing is for certain though, I would never pay more than a couple of hundred for a scale after using these inexpensive ones. I made some check weights by snipping off lengths of solder and wrote down the weights and neither the Smartweigh or the Tree have never been off by more than .002 grams when checked and that is good enough for me

Sorry, my bad. Anyway, my daughter bought me the Smart Weight Gem 20. I'm reall happy with it so far. Does as good a job as other scales I've owned that cost 3 times as much. I can live with the auto off if need be,

like UncleNick said just put some good batteries in it, The ones that come with it are pretty pathetic. I put some rechargeable Panasonic batteries in it when the originals died and they have lasted really well

The one cheap battery operated scale of all the scales I have that has worked consistently over the last several years is the Hornady GS-1500. The auto shutoff can be annoying but then again it recalibrates when turned back on. Not sure how their G2-1500 is working out but this one must have been made on a Wednesday.

I am very happy with the Smart Weigh Gem 20 I got for Christmas. I love the 2 decimal place display. The only thing is the tray that comes with it is so small, it's hard to dump the contents back into the empty case after weighing without spilling it. I guess I could use a funnel.

Any ideas.

Used both of the Truweighs to load a bunch of rounds over the past several weeks. I can't find anything wrong with them in terms of accuracy and repeatability. They beat the <$200 versions from the reloading companies I have compared them against.
