Barrett M82-A1??

I'd hold out for a McMillan 50, an extremely accurate rifle. Lots of options and a real pussycat to shoot. Just get out the big checkbook. Buy a 50 while you still can.

I would recommend getting a .50 since they are probably not going to be as readily available in the near future. But I wouldn't get the 82 unless you plan on having a multiple tank encounter anytime soon. The 82A1 is not very accurate and is very heavy. It has a weak scope rail and other stuff that would need work to make it reliable. Although I must say it is an outstanding weapon. On the other hand, the Barrett 99, or any other bolt action such as the AR-50 or McMillan are all accurate and nice shooters. The model 99 is 24 lbs. I think, off the top of my head, and is far more accurate than the 82. You will find yourself saving quite a bit of money going this route also, maybe even enough to get going on your auto M16. You can pick up preban AR-15 lowers for around 8 or 900 around here. So the compromise would allow you to get 2 for the price of 1 M82. This is all jibber jabber. I just say get what you want, you probably have no use for either of them so which ever one is 'funner' is the one to get.

Lose the Loser Mentality!

Listen to yourselves!

approximate quotes follow:

"Can't see any reason to get a full auto"
"Won't be available in the near future"

Why a full auto? Because we can!

Why not available? Because you let it happen!

I was cleaning my Uzi while listening to Rush Limbaugh with my Glock 21 on my hip when I had a moment of realization - my choices have led me to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

God bless America!

No maybe I've learned that ten cups of coffee might just be a bit much ;)
