Backpack Rifle?

That is a really awesome setup SouthernShooter! Really want to backpack for excercise and maybe an overnight stay. I got a lot of feedback and appreciate the imput. I will post some pics later on when I get my setup in order.

Troopcom.....

Troopcom,

That holster and gun combo really is a great arrangement. I can drive with seatbelts buckeled, ride 4-wheelers, work on things, set up tents, squat down and tie my boots, take a nap, AND,.......well, I can even go to the bathroom :o while keeping the gun within reach. The holster never has to be removed.

Thanks

i want a sub 2000 for that same reason. or a CX4 storm. if you know there is a likelyhood of running into meth makers stay away from there. get what you want anyway. or buy my mini 14 in the pic

In my neck of the woods (Alaska) anything short of a cannon isn't big enough. An angry mama bear with cubs isn't exactly a bobcat...

However. I took out a coyote with my AK once. In about 100 foot range I dispatched it while it was running at me and was able to take it down. I put 6 shots into it, but fired about 15. Even though I'm sure the second or third shot killed it... Still I was able to get him down in 100 feet by just pointing in his general direction. I barely had much of an aim due to adrenaline. I mainly just pointed and started pulling the trigger until it stopped coming at me.

What counts is in a high stress situation like that I still was able to hit him within a few trigger pulls. And I was able to hit him 5 more times. 6 7.62's is enough to take down most raging animals. I don't think I would have been able to hit him with a pistol while I was on that adrenaline rush.

Here in bama my 9mm carbine with red dot and .45 caliber handgun is good enough to handle most situations including meth monsters because they are thick around here too. I dont feel undergunned.

This is my rough country carbine:

- Remington model 660
- .308 WIN
- short, light, powerful, well balanced

I've had an S2K for 6mo./600 rounds, no malfunctions at all. Shared 15 & 33 rnd mags with my G19. These two are my ultimate SHTF/BOB pair. I can probably group the S2K as well as the G19 at about 2 or 3 times the distance. I think fine for 2 legged creatures up to 100yrd. Longer barrel adds 200 ft/sec which starts to approach .357 handgun power. It's the ultimate travel firearm as it has long gun legality, but is almost as portable and inconspicuous as a handgun.... it goes with me when I cross state lines where my CCW is not valid. It fits in a laptop case and stores it my handgun safe. Downside.... it's a dirty shooter (blow back action).
