Back to basics 1911 carry gun

Okay Mad Dog... I'm curious.
How much for that work if a Customer ships you a NIB Springfield 1911A1?
I am sorely tempted. :D
My wife just mentioned that after I get her Jeep restored - I can get another pistol! BOOYAA!!

ArmySon-

You'd be amazed by how much better that stock Colt rear sight is after you've filed the notch a little deeper. I did it to every Colt I had with the stock hi-profile sight, and it actually is one of my favorite sight setups now. That factory notch is WAY too shallow.

Regarding front sight and plunger tube failures, I've had them come loose on my guns but I also invested in the right tools to install them. When a tube comes loose I either simply restake it or replace it. When I install the front sight I put a drop or two of red Loctite on the tenon as well, and it seems to make the installation a lot more solid.

Yeah the plunger tube is very fixable when it comes loose. However, do you want that possibility if you were ever involved in a defensive situation?

Thanks but no thanks!
