Auto or Wheel for carry?

Just a talkin topic, not a debate. Which do you prefer and why? An automatic or a revolver for conceal carry? ( And if you want what gun specifically )

I started as a revolver guy. I carried a S&W Airweight 637 because of ease of carry and reliability. I've since migrated to semi's and prefer either my 1911 or my Ruger LCP. Both are reliable and depending on dress, just as easy to conceal as my snubnose.

I'm carrying a revolver now, but I'm also new to this. As I get more familiar with automatics, I might switch -- who knows?

I recently, after several years of carrying a J-frame, went to a subcompact semi for improved ease and accuracy of shooting and increased capacity.

I prefer an auto, but In really hot weather when I'm wearing shorts and t-shirt I'll go with my S&W 642. Otherwise I carry my Colt 1991A1 Compact. I'm breaking in my Kimber SIS right now.

The only handgun I have right now is my M&P 9mm compact, semi autos are what I learned to shoot on, so that's what I got for my first gun, when I get my permit in, which should be sometime soon I will carry my M&P. But I'm looking right now to buy a snub nose revolver for simplicity, and the days I don't feel like strapping on my M&P.

I carry a 5-shot .38 S&W 637 snub-nose.
Light-weight, adequate for self-defense, and about as reliable as a handgun can be.
It's the one that I can carry just about everywhere, everyday, regardless of what I'm wearing.

Auto (Glock 19) because it's light, flat and I can shoot it fast and accurately. A spare Glock 17 +2 mag gives me a total of 35 rounds. It's all very comfortable to carry all day.

I like wheelguns. I've carried wheelguns. They're bulky, only hold 5 or 6 rounds and the speedloaders are nearly as bulky as the gun.

Auto or Wheel for carry?

Yes.

Which is to say, I'm comfortable with either, depending on how I'm dressed and what I'm doing. My 642 gets "garden duty", meaning I'll carry it when I'm out doing grungy or dirty work, because cleaning it from such is somewhat simpler and because I doubt I'd need more than "five for sure". I seriously doubt I'd need more than that any time, but when I can I carry a larger caliber/capacity semi auto (usually a Para Carry 12, sometimes one of my Steyrs). I'd trust any of them, and shoot them all well (which I think is the most critical factor).

I thought long and hard to come up with carrying a S&W 638 Airweight revolver, But... I do have a semi in the car x16 9mm.

A reliable SA

Like a Glock or 1911 is good for carry, but a revolver is good too for good old reliability and simplicity. Spare ammo can be carried in moon clips (speedloaders are a bit cumbersome, but are fine)

Really it is just personal choice... what you like & are used to :D

If I were allowed to carry here in Oz (which I am not) I would go for a Glock and a wheel BUG.... but thats just me :D

I'm an auto guy. My primary carry is the Glock 23. When weather permits a jacket, my first pick is my Springfield XD-45.

My brother is a 100% revolver guy. We're only 2 years apart and grew up shooting and reading guns magazines as pre-teens. But his tastes and mine in what we carry are polar opposites. Been like that for almost 30 years now.

I've carried both.........over the years.....

I carried a 1991A1 Commander, for years.
I switched about 4 or 5 years ago.
Not it's always the Ruger,SS, SP101, .357mag.
It's simple, reliable, and lighter, a little.
I never have felt undergunned with either.
But I'm content.

S&W 686 4in barrel revolver. Why? Reliable, stopping power, accuracy is excellent, cheap to reload for, built to last a lifetime, cheap enough to replace... should it go to an evidence room for years after an incident.
