assualt rifles in civie hands in europe

Go for it. I'd like to see a conviction held up with no evidence. Who's to say I didn't actually destroy them? If the country has regressed to the point where people can be convicted of possession without physical evidence, I would not be living at a postal address.

Remember we are comparing Switzerland to America. Having your guns outside their "proper storage area" without a really good explanation is a crime in itself. The lack of evidence that you speak of is itself enough to charge and convict you. The fact is that the Swiss government has a VERY good idea of where each and every single firearm in their country is at any given moment. This knowledge in itself isnt bad. but, it does open the door for all sorts of problems should the climate in that country change.

RKBAadvocate,

I'm not real impressed.....I'll trade CCW for full-auto rifles any day of the week.

It ain't just CCW. You'd give up CCW, just to get full registration, purchase permits, safe storage requirements... oh, yeah, and the ability to buy new full auto rifles. (You can already buy a pretty good selection of 18-year old full auto rifles.)

Shouldn't you change your screen name to "Privilege to Keep and Bear Arms advocate"? ;)

jeffnvk,

One Day I wish to buy a FA younger then I am

You can, but only by four months. ;)

The tide has been turning for some time, though, so I wouldn't sit and feel miserable. I'd keep annoying my elected things. Next on the list is a passel of annoying EO's restricting importation. We need to shoot those down.

Posts numbered 7 and 11 possibly others too made mention of registration, confiscation and Switzerland.

While Switzerland and things Swiss are perhaps interesting, I do not believe that any of the posters here are Swiss Citizens, and we are not in Switzerland anyhow. By the way, my understanding, perhaps incorrect, of Swiss law is as follows. Respecting the selective fire rifle that Swiss citizens might have at home, with the rest of their military gear, it can be used in competition shooting, however the "issue ammunition load" is not to be opened. Competition ammunition is drawn from the local arsenal, as I remember. Additionally, there are differences in the law from one canton to another, just like differences in state laws here.

As to registration, and does it or does it not lead to confiscation in THIS COUNTRY, it already has, and does. For example, look at New Jersey, California and New York City, to name just three places where REGISTRATION HAS LED TO CONFISCATION.

I can bet running this on TV for 30 seconds nationwide would stir up the people...but just make us drool...

Worse yet, confiscation has proved nasty in Australia and Britain.
