Are You Voting Republican Or Third Party This Year?

I can't think of a better way to help Rich test the server than to start a thread of this sort. lol

Anyway, it was just about four years ago that this was a hot topic here. It was thought by many, including myself, that getting Bush elected was paramount to preserving our Second Amendment rights. As it turns out, Bush hasn't had the opportunity to nominate even one Supreme Court justice. With three or four STILL about to retire, what are your thoughts on this?

It is HIGHLY unlikely that Kerry will nominate anyone who is pro-gun rights. In the face of things like the Patriot Act and the war in Iraq, do we hold our noses and vote for Bush again? We have directly opposing decisions on the Circuit Court level stating what the Second Amendment means, that should eventually force the Supreme Court to take a stand.

Do we vote for Bush again? With all the Liberal activist judges these days, I don't see that we have a choice....

Edited to add: Please keep this discussion civil! :)

Depends,

AWB signed and renewed, third party.

Any new gun control laws passed before Nov., third party.

Everything "expires", maybe Republican.

Bush has been striving mightly to lose my vote:

Tepid support for RKBA
Sell outs to Mexico
Patriot Act
Campaign Finance Reform

But if it's close in VA I'll vote for him. Kerry's a disaster.

Great to see TFL back up.

I think the AWB renewal is pretty much a dead issue this year. If by some chance it is renewed, I'm right with you. There is no doubt that if Kerry is elected, he will not only push for its renewal, but the new bill will contain even more onerous infringements and it will be permanent this time.

The lesser of 2 evils (even if it's only by a bit). So far it's Bush. Could not bring myself to vote for Kerry, period. The man stands for nothing but which way the wind blows.

As much as voting for the "Do it if it feels good" party would salve my ego, I will be voting for W this year.

He isn't conservative enough for me, but hardly anyone is.

As long as the (insert your favorite epithet here) party exists, I will vote Republican. If the socialist (IYFEH) party ever ceases to exist, I might consider voting for the Libertarian party. I get the funny feeling that the (IYFEH) party will continue to be with us for an interminably looooong time. :barf:

Every year I hear the same thing....you have to vote Rebublican or you are throwing your vote away.....look who you might get, and so on. This is true, but I can no longer vote for a party that for all intents and purposes are the same as the Dems. The only difference is that the Rebs whisper in your ear how much you are going to like it, and the Dems just rape and pillage without bothering to blow smoke up your rear end. This year I switched to the Constitution Party, and that is how I intend to vote.....Damm the torpedos, full speed ahead.

I will more than likely vote Republican. I'm with USP along the lines of what happens with the AW ban, but I most defintely don't want Kerry in office, so I'm sticking with George jr. :)

LIBERTARIAN. Voting for an R for president in Massachusetts is a waste of a vote since the electoral votes will go to the D. I therefore can vote my conscience, and not feel like I am contributing to a JFK win.

Sounds like you hear from people that have a grasp of the 2 party system. What they know (and seemingly you don't) is that the party with the most votes makes the rules and has the best chance of advancing those ideals most in keeping with their platform.

Amazing the number of people that don't understand that.

Oh I understand this completely. The problem is that some still think there is a difference between the two parties. They are both heading to the same place....its just that one it taking a plane, and the other a boat. I'm not at all impressed with the "rules" W is making. He has taken away more of our freedoms, and put more laws on the books that are just waiting to be abused than any Dem has ever thought of trying to get away with. I say if it is our destiny that the "frog" is going to jump out of the pot, lets let the cards fall where they may. BTW, if he really wanted to empress me, he would come right out and SAY that he would veto the renewal of the AWB...not say he will sign it if it gets to his desk. And he would use all those sneaky tricks that Klinton got away with to appoint conservative judges. Not to mention the fact that he should have undone who knows how many EO's Klinton put in place....stroke of a pen, undo the sin.....to Klinton's stroke of a pen, law of the land BS.

Unlike 1964, I'm gonna vote for the Texan. I disagree with President Bush on many issues, but I wouldn't let John Kerry in my home if he offered to pay double rent.

While I admire the determination and the principles of those voting for third part candidates, the stinging defeat of Clinton vs. Bush vs. Perot is still fresh on my mind.

1st new post! :D

I'll echo nralife - if there's the slightest chance Bush might take Kalifornistan (unlikely, but not necessarily impossible, and apparently yhe RNC is NOT writing Kali off yet) AND the AWB expires AND no other national gun controls are imposed, then I'll hold my nose and vote Republican for Pres.

And maybe even Rep for Senate, though the primary winner is unlikely to beat Boxer; another Wilson RINO type whose name I can't even recall at the moment.

Otherwise, the straight (perhaps not the best word  ) Libertarian ticket.

Wouldn't you know it....

my 1st post is in L&P.

I'm in TX which will go for W, so my one and only vote will make no diff.

Given his lack of spine of the "Mexican Colonization Issue" I will be voting for the Constitution Party candidate this go-round.

Sorry, I just can't reward negative behavior.

It's so good to be back.

Ohio is a must win state for Bush. I will vote Republican because Kerry must not win. I think it would be disastrous for the 2A. So I will hold my nose and vote for Bush.
