Are you obsessed with the condition of your firearms?

I actually felt the blood drain from my head when I pulled my Sig P229 out of storage and saw the top of the barrel covered with rust! Even after I cleaned it up the best I could there is still a rust stain on it and now I just don't feel the same about the gun, almost like it is tainted now.

I don't have very many valuable personal possessions, but my guns are at the top of the list. Cleaning is a ritual you don't want to hear about, and even run marks from gun oil drive me nuts. I've resigned myself to the fact that my "carry" gun is going to get holster wear, and to get over it. An attitude I've developed of late is that the more "stuff" you have, the more time is spent out of your short life attending to that stuff. Cleaning it, maintaining it, repairing it. So, just limit your "stuff" to the items you care about, keep them top shelf and get a life. Any time over 45 minutes to mow the lawn is nuts to me.

Just my HO.

I actually like guns that show "honest use". I don't like guns that show "abuse" or neglect. Guns are a tool and should be used regularly but cleaned and maintained. This doesn't count with collectibles or presentation pieces but I don't have any of those.
