Are you better off now than you were 8 yrs ago? (wtf!)

Acutally I think that the Clinton administration has boosted the U.S. economy quite a bit. In case you don't believe me think about this. Over the last 8 years, how many times did you buy a firearm more out of the fear of what Bubba might do, rather than because you wanted / needed it at that time. Include all of the firearms you intended to buy and bought earlier than you originally planned.

Multply that by the many people who did the same and guess how much that propped up the economy.

Hmmm - 8-10 years ago I had a VW GTI, a T-Bird Super Coupe, a BMW 325i and 3 motorcycles. I had a larger gun collection, I could date... I had no expenses and a good income... I could go see every new movie as they came out... I could eat in any joint that sounded tasty...

Now,
Married with 4+1 incoming.
Got a Geo and a full sized Chevy Conversion Van thats a freakin RV inside. I have a much smaller gun collection that seems to shrink every year dispite my personal efforts to the contrary. I have to wait till video for most movies and then i have to see if the VCR is working SuperSoaker Mega Drencher blaster water wonder got the current one - can't play pictures but the sound still works. Go figure...

I love my kids, and my wife (who dispite gaining weight after several incubations is still sexy to me) and I even kinda like our new house with its SO TOTALLY FREAKIN SUBURBAN AND MIDDLE CLASS ITS SICKENING looks. After getting SHOT, Survived CANCER, had to get GLASSES... CHANGED CAREERS a few times and now working in a FREAKING DILBERT COMIC...

Yeah - I guess I am better off.

NO!!!!
Trick question right? Yeah, I may be making more, but when I spend more per week on a habit(cigarettes) than I do food, something is f*ed up somewhere.

Am I better off? Let's see, eight years ago I didn't need to work. (I did anyway, because I like doing something useful with my time, but I had enough income that I didn't really need more.) Today, If I don't work, I can't feed, clothe, or house my family.
Nope, I'm not better off.

When Clinton was elected I was 17. Gee whiz am I better off. Duh. Stupid liberals. Have no clue how the economy really works, have no clue about anything.

Now I've got a wife, a child, a degree, and seven more guns than I did then. I have no faith in my elected representatives. I don't believe anything that I hear on the news. I think most liberals are scum of the earth.
So I have gained in knowledge, wealth, and cynicism. I owe the cynicism part to Clinton. The rest I had to work for.

Bogie,

I've met Scott, but didn't really know him. I replaced him when he left to go to the Pennsylvania Game News, but I don't think he's there anymore.

Try searching first in the Harrisburg area. If that doesn't work, try the Alumni office at your college.

I THINK he went to Radford, didn't he?

Am I better off financially than eight years ago? No, things turned bad a couple years ago. With hard work, a year or so from now I'll be better off than I was in '92. But that won't be because of Clinton or Bush (note the optimism).

Am I better off because now I have to wait sometimes two weeks to pick up a new gun, or that I have to worry about how many shells I can put into a shotgun, or that my name may be sitting in an FBI file, or that the guns I own could be made illegal? H*ll no!

I've seen this thread around for a few days but haven't ventured in until now because I really don't know if I am better off or not -- in some ways I am and in others ways I'm not ... Eight years ago both my parents were alive and in good health; today my Dad is gone and my Mom isn't too stable requiring frequent attention ... However, in those eight years, I've gained a wife, a daughter and very caring & supportive in-laws ( who frequently drive me crazy) ... Eight years ago I made less money but had a lot more career options in front of me and the future looked very bright ... Today, I have advanced in my career by a few levels but because of the choices that I have made, certain doors will forever be closed to me and my options for the future are more limited ... Eight years ago, I owned less guns and lived in a very restrictive state where I could not carry ... Today, even though the national climate has changed for the worst, I now reside in a state where the gun laws are much freer ... If I had to give an answer, I would have to say that I'm honestly not sure -- it's six of one and half a dozen of the other.

I am better off now but clinton has had very little to do with it. Regean did all the dirty work and bill just rode the wave.
Bill Clinton has made my life harder because the moral fabric of this nation is sreaded to noting. He has declaired war on business, the constitution and many very positive social institutions. He has made it more dificult for me to raise my kids because of his behavior and has made their future less promissing. We are and will be a much poorer nation because if him and his friends.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the
government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of
taking care of them.

Hell yes because unlike the pond scum my kid married I work for a living. I know there are a lot of great young folks out there but sometimes I think the boy's village wants their idiot back........
Come on Gore, tell us all how you want to tax the c*** out of gasoline so we will all quit driving and start using public transportation. Funny how he doesn't mention that little jewel any more.

Yes I am, through no help from the government. The problem is Clinton inherited a healthy economy and the majority of what has gone right has nothing to do with him - though it may have to do with Gore, since after all he helped invent the Net when he wasn't busy doing all the other wonderful things he has done.
What does gripe my a** is people who CAN work and won't, but that's a whole different topic.
