I went to the range with a pre S&W Model 10 in 4 inch barrel and a Glock 19.
I could not hit accurately at 25 feet at a human silhouette target with the revolver I was always off target with it and hitting the target all over the place. With the glock 19 I was getting 1 inch groups at 25 feet and hitting the human silhouette target consistantly on center of mass and head shots even while rapid firing.Let's face it the Glock 19 is going to be my carry and home defense handgun and the revolver will be sold due to it not meeting my requirements as a home defense gun.

The pre S&W Model 10 is reliable but not accurate in my experience. The Glock 19 is reliable and accurate so it won in my book.I like revolvers but this one made me favor semi-autos instead. What advantage do I have with a revolver with 6 shots of 38 special that may or may not hit a intruder or a Glock with 15 shots of 9mm that will positively hit the intruder where I want to.

Kinda apples to oranges for me. My revolver is a 4" .357 My most accurate semi is a Beretta 92FS. I am more accurate with my .357 but...I think the ammo is the difference.

Sounds like you made the right choice for yourself then, and that's all that counts. No doubt the feel of the trigger pull is different between autos and revolvers. Even when talking about guns that have had fine tuning of their triggers, it's a different feel between the two. For some people, it really affects their accuracy. Maybe it's the difference in the amount of experience with each one, but I personally can shoot any revolver better than I can shoot an auto.

Um, I am not sure. let me confer with my spotter's average out their answers and do some other scientiific calculations and I'll come back with an answer soon. until then though feel free to guess which one i am better at.

I chose the semi-auto. But that is only because I have more trigger time with them than any of my revolvers.

Revolver

I do better with a revolver when doing combat type shooting. This maybe due to more trigger time with wheelguns but I really love a smooth D/A trigger pull. From the bench, no real difference.

Semi-auto, I've never really practiced with revolvers much. I only own one revolver and it doesn't get shot very much, maybe 100rds a year...when my semi's get on the average of 7500rds a year through them.

No way should a semiauto theoretically equal a revolver.

The rigid barrel of the revolver should give it a distinct advantage vs the moving parts of a semi!!!

Question is--Can the shooter can utilize the advantage??

I found the Glock 19 to be more accurate when I was shooting than my S&W 3913TSW, or my S&W 686. I gave the Glock 19 to my father and he shoots it quite well at 10 yards.

Although I shot the Glock 19 more accurately, I prefer the revolver for personal/home defense ... I like .357 magnum better than 9mm.

I find that the triggers on the SAs I own tend to be easier for me to shoot more accurately with.

For SD purposes I am OK with either but for "one ragged hole" attempts, the SAs have it.

I'm a terrible shot with revolvers... lack of experience probably being the main reason. I don't know if it's the grip or the sights that throw me off. I've enjoyed shooting every revolver that I've tried, but I still can't hit the broad side of a barn with them.

I voted both

I have both SA's (Glock 34, Glock 17 & P22) & revolvers (Vaquaros, 1858 Bp's, ROA's) and have no accuracy problems with any, and don't prefer either over the other. :D

I would say my G34 is my most accurate SA & the ROA's are the most accurate of my revolvers (the longest barrel Glock & the long barrel of the ROA being the reason, IMO)

If I'm using the sights it really doesn't matter too much, but combat/point shooting the revolver works better for me. It feels more like a natural extension of my arm.

Having shot mostly revolvers for years except for two .22 autos. I have bought a Glock 19 and a M&P 9 compact this year. Must say a whole different animal for sure. When I started shooting them I was lucky to even hit the target:eek: But now can get them into the 8 inch target at 15 yards and getting better everyday. I never thought there was that much difference between the two but there sure is:)

Both

I am equally accurate with single action revolvers or autos, my groups expand with DAO autos or firing revolvers in double action mode.
