Are we crazy?

Don't get me wrong. I love guns and stuff as much as any of you do, but how many people do you think take it too far? What begins to be too much? Do gun owners practice moderation?

Lately I've been comparing my hobby to other hobbies and I kinda thought I might be sort of crazy.

It's none of my business... However, I will say that I feel some of the hype of gun owners we do to ourselves. On that note I am on the side of the gun owners in saying that 1) I have a right, and that 2) it really doesn't concern you go worry about something else more important.

Let's just entertain the thought for a second, though... Every big business has a marketing and PR division to improve it's brand or product's view in the eyes of the public. Being a gun owner we aren't really a brand or product so we don't have any marketing or PR. But, you could say we are the marketing and PR. Sure, it's our right to pack a huge revolver in public, but what's the poor old lady at the store say? "Look at that crazy person with his huge gun!" Why?... What could we do to make that old lady change her opinion?

Ha!

Ummm...I guess we all have to find our limits.

People go overboard on a lot of hobbies. Could have a pic of a guy with his 25 model airplanes or an old lady and her collection of thimbles from around the world.

I know what limits I'm happy with. I don't obsess on having to have every caliber and model of (insert model/brand here).

Consider when it goes from being prepared or having a hobby to an obsession. Obsessions generally aren't health as other aspects of ones life begin to suffer.

Take your wife on a walk at least as often as you meet with your shooting buddies!

Side note: that's not me... I simply found that picture and thought it was kinda funny. Happen to also have something to do with a thought on my head at the time.

That there is a perfect example of the straw man argument. whoever created that poster showed a guy watching the telly while barricaded behind an "arsenal" of weapons and ammo. He's obviously a retard and nuts, to boot, right? We are intended to just accept the truth that every american gun owner is just like this, and hence, also a retard and a nut.

Well, in reality, heck yes he is. His things shouldn't be right there in front of an open window; they should be strategically concealed.

And then, we have an ad hominem.

Come on, it was a rhetorical question, and in my opinion, at least a bit of a joke. What's with the hostile "it's none of your business" retort?

yes, I think that some of us are plain freakin crazy. many of the conspiracy nuts and militia members are diagnosibly psychotic. In his case, Watching the news with thousands of rounds, dozens of weapons, and even stupider, redundancy of weapons of every sort piled around you while sitting in a completely indefensible position is delusional, and stupid.

There is a difference between collector and crazy, but the people who choose to attack gun owners want that distinction to disappear. anyone who owns lots of guns is a nut. Then, once they eliminate that, everyone who owns a gun is a nut. Then, anyone who WANTS one, or thinks about them, is a nut.

Death by little cuts, while being shoved down the slippery slope.

Don't much care what she thinks and if I happen to save her life, she'll probably say "thank you".

I agree with you on this. I live in a small rural Alaskan town and even here... In northern red neck capitol of the USA, I still get weird looks for bringing my machine guns to the gun range... Why do I get remarks like that? Even others at the range look at me like I'm crazy. One poster said it's similar to seeing a man surrounded by RC planes. No one looks at him like he's nucking futs. No... He's cool.

So yeah... I can kill people if I wanted to en-mass maybe, but am I going to? No... I'll be the first person in my neighborhood to offer up a zombie apocalypse strong hold. Who's crazy now?

You're over thinking it. It's your constitutional right and therefore no one's business.
Instead of worrying what others may think just concentrate, hardcore, on preserving that right.
Rights absolutely do not need to be justified.

I'm only seeing 7 rifles, 5 handguns and 1 shotgun. Everything else seems to be parts and ammo.
The display is wierd, but I don't see anything wrong and certainly not an "arsenal".

Those are squirrel shields. Don't know what the boxes are, probably lanterns.

Of course they are. the boxes are solar lanterns. magnetron tube is a phone cable box.

This person is a paranoid schizophrenic, and if you dig into the rest of this person's online presence, you'd be stunned.

Isn't it interesting that someone who is so pursued and hunted, and worried, should put every aspect of daily life on the internet for the entire world to see? Pictures of This person's toilet are even online, because the water looked funny.

Yes, antigunners would love to create a link between this person and firearms. What a coup that would be. Wouldn't it be a hoot if someone hacked into the person's yootoob account and posted movies of the "arsenal" of weapons and explosives that are hidden in the basement?
