Are revolvers making a comeback?

about a month ago I asked the same question. And the answer was pretty much the same. Since then I've been asking about wheelies in some of the SEmi auto forums. And the answers have been pretty interesting. Almost to a person, if you can get someone who's grown up in a semi-only world to try a revolver, their response is, "Where have you been keeping these things".

I'm surprised that nobody brought up Cowboy Action Shooting in this thread.

That had to have some impact. Old and young, everybody loves the image of the old west cowboys.

Ok so Col. Cooper farts and it makes headlines? Lets just say, for the sake of argument, that Col. Cooper notices some guy show up at a shoot with a Luger, and Cooper quips "he must know something I don't", would there be a run on Lugers the next day? Would Lugers be making a comeback? ;)

On a more serious note, it may be that more folks are buying revolvers these days (in general) in the same way that more people were buying guns period. IE: Pre-Brady and Post 9-11.

I still have yet to see more than 3 revolver shooters at an IDPA match, even though many of the competitors claim to carry a wheelgun as their CCW. Maybe they just LIKE tap-rack-bang drills or tac reloads. On the other hand, on any given trip to the range I see plenty of revolvers.

I don't think revolvers "went" anywhere. I think the boycott of SW made a lot of people quit buying them. (Though Colt quit making their revolvers for a time.) It's not like there was shortage of viable products, but compared to auto loaders, there hasn't been much radical improvemnt in revolvers until quite recently (ie ultralite scandium, titanium, and 7 or 8 shots).

Maybe its new shooters? Maybe then boycott is relaxing?

I like revolvers, always have. I use one as a carry piece. I like the fact that I don't lose the brass at the range. I prefer auto's for competition. Always a crisp single action pull and I find them faster than many double action revolvers, at least in my hands. But for fun shooting, give me a revolver!

I get "Tacticaled out" somtimes

Love my Glocks and my next purchase may well be a Bushy, but last weekend I'd just had it with the whole "Tactical, black,hi-cap, Black T-shirt-BDU pants tucked combat boots scene.

Spent nearly all Sunday with my S/W model 19 and Model 18. Leather,wood,steel...Nice relaxing day:cool: Plus think about how many nice used revolvers I could get for the price of one new Bushmaster:eek:

PS:
Nothing defines America at peace better than a revolver

I can't tell you if revolvers are making a comeback or not, but I have put MUY MUCHISIMO rounds through wheelguns, mostly .357s. He11, I started handgunning with a Single-Six. Unfortunately I have out-layed alot of money on wondernines in the past 18-20 months (Walther P-990 DAO and a Glock 17, plus a whole boatload of ammo). Why? I like the way they feel, and I have great confidence in my ability to empty a magazine into a target in minimal time. But I still like wheelguns. Yesterday I toted my SBH to the range with my hardcast hunting loads, just to get reacquainted with recoil and precision. Actually, I think my revolver time is why I happen to be able to shoot DA and DAO semi-autos so well. Either will do, as long as the shooter is on top of the ball game. But for pure beauty in art, nothing can touch a slicked-up revolver.
