Are Gen 2 glocks as good as the other generation glocks?

Unit900,

I'm not sure personally but I would think if they were same size I would bet it would work. Or you can always call glock and ask.

Are Gen 2 glocks as good as the other generation glocks?

No.

They're notably better.

I bought two gen two G19s at the same time, NIB, back in 1989.

Since then, I've shot tens of thousands of factory 9mm rounds through both of them, mostly FMJ but lots of premium JHP too, with never a bobble.

I still have them both, and eventually had the slides hard-chromed since the original black phosphate finish wore off. I've put plain black Heinie sights on them, and replaced the magazines with more modern metal-lined ones (still have the original all-polymer ones, though, and they still work fine), and occasionally updated the recoil springs, but nothing has broken, ever, and both guns retain good precision, about 4" at 25 yards.

I've acquired eight other Glocks since, all of them gen threes, in 9mm, .40S&W and .45ACP.

I got rid of the .40s, since I found no use for the caliber that I didn't get with 9mm or .45ACP, but I have all the others, and I like the gen two G19s grip frames better than ANY of the finger-groove gen three guns.

So now you have my opinion. ;)

My Gen 2 22 bought in the early 90's went kaboom not bang last year. I sent it in to Glock and for $125 they replaced the frame with a Gen 3.
Traded it off for an XD(m) 4". I like it a lot better due to the fully supported chamber.

I don't know what parts the armorer recommends replacing, but usually a recoil spring and maybe a trigger spring will get you going for another several thousand rounds.

My thoughts exactly. At least replacing the recoil spring is always a good idea with a used pistol. I would also recommend replacing the slide stop/spring on used Glock pistols since they have a weak spring that is prone to failure.

If they were as good, Glock wouldn't have discontinued and gone to Glock3, 4, TBD, and other manufacturers would have killed them in the marketplace.

I am not a glock expert by any means. I have owned a Gen 3 23 and 29. I currently own a gen 2 20, and I dont plan on getting rid of it. I do wish it had a rail, but I like the lack of finger grooves. I plan on getting a different barrel for it eventually so I can shoot some of the hotter lead loads.

The trigger on my G20 is superior to any othe glock I have fired.

I do plan on picking up a gen 3 or 4 17 in the future.
