Are custom 1911's worth all the extra money?

I guess it all depends on how much you shoot and how in tune you are with the pistol. Personally, I have no use for a $3600 Wilson. On the other hand, I wouldn't be without my Baer or something similar.

The accuracy, reliability, smoothness and consitency of the action can all be summed up by talking about how the pistol runs. My Baer has the perfect combination of consistent trigger, smooth action, proper springs and so on needed to define a "great running pistol". Yes, I can tell the differences in minute little factors and they all add up. If you don't shoot often enough or well enough to tell the difference between a good pistol and a great pistol, then just buy the cheaper gun.

Of course, if you shoot enough to learn to appreciate a great pistol, you will take a bath on the lesser pistol if you sell it and end up buying the one you should have gotten in the first place. A great 1911 can be had for just a little more than $1500.00. Wilson Super Grades and the like are for guys with great taste and lots of disposable income. Then again some folks get them for bragging rights and that's reason enough.

I dont know what to say, I think I'm the only guy here that actually LIKES Kimber.

I think I'm a good shot and have been asked to help some people with their shooting problems (stance, grip etc.) in the past.

Would I like to have a Fancier gun? sure! but I cant see me being any more effective at home or on the range going for COM shots with something more expensive than my ultra CDP ($900.00 with extras)
