Are boxes, paperwork, or original grips important to you?

When you are buying a used gun is it important to you that the original box or papers comes with the gun? How about the original grips?

To me it does not really matter at all about the box and papers. They are a nice addition to the deal but they do not add or subtract any value in my mind.

It is nice to have the original grips, but if the new grips are better than the original ones I am fine with just them being included.

If...

I'm buying the weapon as a collector with the possibility of re-selling it at some future time, yes. For collector purposes, those things add value.

The absence of such wouldn't stop me from buying something I really want, or a shooter. But the original packing and such do raise the price.

No, not really. I almost lost a sale on a Kimber Warrior because I wanted to keep the grips that came on the gun. I replaced them with a pair of G-10 diagonals. Which, I thought was a better deal.

Why would you throw away the box and paperwork for a gun you bought anyway? Do you get a new car, clean out the glove box, and trash the owners manuals? I save the boxes for my guns if they got em. Not like they are refrigerator cartons or something! Just a little space up on a shelf in the back of the closet! I like to have that stuff and if the seller does not have any box or stuff I gotta wonder where it came from, or if they are negligent or what. But sometimes stuff gets lost in a move I guess.

Don't need them, but, for some reason some do. It is convienent to have them, but not necessary. As mentioned, collector grade firearms are worth more with box and paperwork than without.

It depends on if it is being bought as an investment as a collector's item. If so, yes it does matter, because it matters to collectors.

But if it is being bought as a shooter, then no, I don't care. And since I'm not into collecting, I'm not buying collectors' pieces. Just shooters.

I would like to save all that but every time i move they end up vanishing into thin air,so no i don't have ny of the boxes to any of the guns i own.

No. My guns have value to me for a variety of reason. Several have been given to me by my wife, my dad and one given by an old friend. I don't have a safe and I shoot them all. I'm really not interested in papers and boxes. But I could understand how a collector would.

For collectible firearms, yes. They are actually worth money.
For non-collectible, yes. Some folks really like the fact that you keep factory packaging.

Since I buy used almost exclusively, I am not hung up on it. If the gun comes with box and papers, great. If not, no big deal.

As far as grips, I'd like (in most cases) to have the originals, but it's not a deal breaker. If it is an S&W revolver the lack of original grips will affect the price I'm willing to pay for it.

Just the grips

It is not a make or break a deal kind of thing but I like to have the factory grips, even when the more ergo Hogues or whatever are installed on the gun. I think it goes along with my appreciation for "stock" musclecars.

I do prefer having at least the box a gun came in, if for no other reason than to take it to the range (I do not like the soft cases). It's not a deal breaker but does impact price in my eyes.

As long as the gun runs good I guess I really don't care about having anything else. It is nice to have the box and original grips but does not affect my decision to purchase a particular used gun.

I hate those plastic cases :barf: Their a waste of space and adds to cost of the pistol Would like to see return of the card board box Then I can send those to the trash . Like I do those plastic cases, and be rid of all that paper work and warnings and other needless Info. At same time . Nothing I own is going to be collectable in my life time so why worry about it.

I keep all boxes, plastic included, and any paperwork. I turn around pistols quite a bit and it does add to the value and saleability, IMHO....:)

It's nice to have the everything that came with it new but it's not a deal breaker for me if it's not there. I do keep everything when I buy a new gun and when I replace any factory parts, they go inside the box in case I decide to sell the gun later.

I buy mostly used, if the box & papers come with the gun, good. If they don't that's still okay. Most of my guns are shooters anyway.
