AR15 VS AK47,Pro and Con of each?

For some reason, Garands have never appealed to me. Shot a few, and they are nice enough, but just seem too heavy and not balanced right for me.

Amprecon, you needn't despair about putting non-thumbhole furniture on your SLR-95. No drilling or riveting. I put the SoupBowl Enterprises US-made walnut conversion kit on mine within a few weeks of getting it, and it really classed up the gun, especially sans the butthole thumbstock! The kit consisted of the furniture, magazine follower and floorplate, and a new hammer, enough parts to get the milled receiver AK under the "10 of 20" rule. I just recently took off the wood furniture and put it up for sale, as I found the Bulgarian-pattern US-made synthetic furniture from K-VAR too appealing to pass up. Here's what my AK looked like with the walnut kit on it:

It's interesting how this discussion comes and goes.

But not only between these guns, during WWI the same discussion existed between the guns of the time.
The Enfield vs Springfield vs Mauser.

The same discussion occurred earlier musket vs rifle.

I think most of the relevant points have been covered above. What you tend to notice is when people lives rely on it they pick the gun they know the best. All the rifles mentioned have good and bad points. I like RIKWRITER own / have owned most of them.

There is nothing wrong with the AK it is a good gun that will always go bang. It has limitations in practical accuracy.
Personally I like the FAL (well actually the L1A1 SLR) It has faults of it's own, but I know them all very well, I can avoid most of them, and I can tell when they have occured and how to fix them quickly.

I would suugest that each of the people who have replied have recommended the gun they have shot the most.
