AR15 piston conversion, which are the good ones?

First, yes I know DI is pretty reliable and the gun was designed for that.

Now that we have that out of the way, which piston conversion do you prefer? I've been reading about the different players in this market. Is a standard emerging?

No....no standards.

I have a piston AR (Sig 516, Gen 1, with the copied LWRC carrier) and I like it just fine.

I am not familiar with the conversions though, all I can offer is this...if you get one, get one that uses a standard bolt. The bolt is the part most likely to break even in a DI gun...and if you can't find replacements, you're screwed.

Adams Arms seems to be the big player. I've been reading about Osprey piston kits as well. I like that you can keep your old gas block with them.

I looked into a couple conversions. I decided to buy the Hk MR556. If I were you I would look into the Sig 516. It is comparably priced to a DD DI gun. The Sigs have been very impressive as of lately with the 516. I have seen them for $1500-1700. Sig also might just sell the piston upper, not sure, but just a nickels worth of free advice.

I am really impressed with the Sig 516. If they sella complete upper, that would be the route I would go. I love Hk but they cost a ton. The Sig is a little lighter and works off of an almost identical system.

Btw I love the ground up piston AR's. myHk is everything I wanted and more, I have heard this about the Sig as well.
