It hasn't been nearly three weeks. In fact, it hasn't even been two weeks. The CT State Police have already stated that they won't have a report completed for several months.jmr40 said:When I made the OP I thought it was a more recent video link than it is or I would not have done so. It is a concern of mine that after nearly 3 weeks there has been no official statement made in order to clear up this confusion.
Connecticut DOES have an assault weapons ban in place, so by definition (since the Bushmaster has been shown to have been purchased legally) the rifle used was not an "assault weapon."jimbob86 said:I had heard that CT has an "assault weapons" ban in place already ... is this so, and if so, how did she have an "assault weapon"?
The CT ban mirrors the old Federal ban fairly closely. It bans a number of makes and models by name, and then goes on to define the "evil" features any other rifle may have. It's like a Chinese menu, and you can only pick two. Primary among those are a pistol grip that protrudes from the receiver, and a detachable magazine. Since most ARs have both of those (except in you have one with a CA "bullet button," but that only qualifies as "not easily detachable" because of how the CA law was written. Who knows if it would be okay or not in CT?). So all the other "evil" features we know and love are not allowed in CT: no collapsing/telescoping stock, no bayonet lug, no flash hider, no vertical foregrip -- not allowed. But ARs in "post-ban" configuration are legal in CT.
