AR accuracy - cold vs hot barrel

mini could ever replace an AR because of it being a trend isn't fair to the rifle.

By trendy I meant seems like everyone has one. Has nothing to do with rifle's performance, rather the bling and attention is brings.

3. though I've never used remington 223 ammo. I had a horrible time with accuracy with their 243 hunting ammo and eventually gave up and switched to federal powershoks which have served me well since then.

He calls the vendor and talks with some one there and they basically said the same things posted here.

When asked about the ammo and twist, the tech guy said he should be shooting a 65g round.

He also said the tech suggested a different brand, although I never heard him say nor did I ask which brand the tech suggested.

Thanks for the help, fellas!

I know what you meant. My point is just that it is trendy because it's a good rifle.

Tried Federal Premium instead of Remington and the problem went away.

Unbelievable.

Help me understand what is going on.

Is it the shape of the bullet and minute, subtle differences?

Is it the charge?

Is it the shape of the casing that pushes the charge that pushes the bullet?

Or do some lots of barrels or manufacturers of barrels just not like certain ammunition? Is it random?

I dont rightly know what it is but I just know that anytime accuracy is important to me I stay away from the green and yellow boxes and head for the federal. remington has been getting an ever increasing number of complaints about ammo in all calibers, if it's not inaccurate, it's inconsistent. if it's not dented casings then it's squib loads... the way I rank ammo remington is right at the very bottom of my list.

Try Federal Premium Ammo

I just bought some Hornaday match and Federal Premium. My 18" heavy barrel AR shoots both well. But is more accurate with the 69g Federal Premium Sierra MatchKing. :D
