Anyone seen the new Smut & Weezle line?

There is nothing hypocritical about not giving a **** about any of the companies. It's hypocritical if you give a **** when one company does something bad and not give a **** when another company does something equally as bad or worse.

It's obvious you do not give a ***** about anything. When we are all having to take government approved safety course to prove our worthiness to own a gun I will blame people like yourself. When we are restricted to being alllowed to purchase only one handgun every two weeks I will blame you. When the only new guns available are encumbered with unworkable "smart gun" technology I will blame you. When we are all subjected to all the terms of the "agreement" I will blame you.
You see Plinker, perhpas you do not give a ***** but I do!

Futo Inu,
First let me say I'm not angry. I'm a true believer in the free exchange of opinions. But, you do have me confused. Are you including me in with the hypocrites? Yes, I do advocate buying used guns rather than new. However, I don't see how I'm putting money in any traitor's pocket indirectly or otherwise.
It would be impossable to completely stop the sale of new guns. We all know that many folks are now buying their first gun because they fear not being able to in the future. Most of these folks will go to the local gunshop and buy a new Smith, Colt, Ruger or whatever simply because they don't know better. You can't hold that against them because they are new at this. Truthfully, I'm glad to have 'em on our side. So new guns will sell regardless.
But, this theory of yours about buying used guns putting money in the traitor's pockets just don't hold water. Consider the sheer numbers of used guns out there. Why the S&W Model 10 alone past the one million mark many years ago.
Granted you can't always find exactly what you want when you want it. But, its out there somewhere. You just gotta be patient.
And by buying used guns we delay the sale of new ones. An in any large corperation time is indeed money.
Finally, I just plain happen to be a lover of S&W revolvers and Colt auto pistols. While I'll never buy another new one, I won't hesitate to buy a good used one.
If you think this makes me a hypocrite, well so be it. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. No hard feelings.

Plinker, yes........used, thank you very much. The last (only) new guns I have bought of late have been Browning, Taurus and Weatherby. I have convictions and follow them. My rights......and yours are import to me.

Count me in as another person who will not buy another new S$W product. And I REALLY wanted to get a Ti Airweight! But now I won't...

No grayfox, I wasn't including you in the hypocrites or traitors' class before. Now you are informed of the market forces involved that undermine a new-product boycott when used products are purchased. Now go and sin no more. If you do not, THEN you will be a traitor (not a hypocrite).

You guys are all genuinely misinformed (in good faith, it seems) of the market forces at work here. But you are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, IINM. And I mean that in the best way, from someone who is often wrong myself. :) Look, if there are, let's say 50,000 good & excellent condition S&W revolvers in of Model X revolvers in the used market, and a virtually unlimited amount offered for sale of the same model in the new market (you could say 250,000 if it helps you understand the situation - but it really doesn't matter for the analysis - what matters is the available used guns).

Now, let's say there are 100,000 people in the market for S&W model X - these folks are not necessarily set an either new or used, who would buy a good or excellent condition if the price was right, or who would buy a new one if a used was not readily available or again, if the price was right. Suppose half (50,000) of this market are consciencious, S&W-boycotting, freedom-concerned gun owners (such as yourself and myself), and half (50,000) couldn't give a flying flip because all ya need's a hunting rifle and a revolver - no one really needs an assault rifle anyway (you know the type). If half of the conciousness gun owners (25,000 of the 50,000) buy your theory that "used doesn't matter" and buy a good or excellent condition Model X S&W revolver -remember, like you, they won't buy new (the other 25,000 buy Tauruses - May God bless them) - that means half of the available used guns are gone (50,000 - 25,000 = 25,000 left). Now suppose that among the other 50,000 people in the market (the ones who don't know or care about any boycott), let's say 2/5ths happen to opt for a new model X and 3/5ths, or 30,000, happen to opt for a used good or excellent condition model X. Well, there are only 25,000 left, not 30,000. That means 5,000 of the people who WOULD HAVE BOUGHT a used Model X will now buy a NEW model X, giving S&W a large profit. Now, this is just a small sampling of what the numbers might really be, so everyone who pracices this is indirectly (and inadvertently perhaps) HELPING S&W, whether you want to believe or not, and whether you like it or not. Som my "theory" holds much more than water - it's your quick glance theory that doesn't pass muster. I like S&W revolvers, too. That ain't nowhere near an excuse. I like freedom more. Now you know. The logic is impeccable and inescapable, I believe (I'll be glad to listen to refutes - email me). So, as I said, GO AND SIN NO MORE!! BTW, Taurus makes excellent products.

I think some of you are missing the point.

What's done is done. Ruger sold us out. Congress sold us out ( Dems and Republicrats). We missed our chance to STOP GUN RESTRICTIONS IN PROGRESS!! So far Ruger, Colt, Glock, and others have not boarded the ship to more government control. Part of this due to our reaction!

We have a LAST CHANCE to galvanize our forces. We must boycott S&W. They are our new front in the war for our rights. The old fronts are ceeded territory that even a Republicrat congress refused to touch!

Boycotting however is not sufficient. We must go on the offensive. Some how there must be a way to force the Supreme court to decide on this matter!!! ( Ideas are welcome!!). In the mean time I support senator BOB SMITH on the Judiciary comitte. ( the amount of crazy gun bills he stops is worth some cash to me!!) www.senate.gov/~smith/ take a look at his web-site...especialy his link to the judiciary committe and take a peek at the anti-freedom bills now under concideraton.

GENTLEMEN IT IS TIME TO STOP THIS SQAUBLING AND DO SOME GOOD FOR HUMANITY!

Peace
IZZY

OK everyone - its good to let off steam, but now DO something, and a ban is one thing which needs more publicity/explanation... so go to it to the great US Public!
We in Australia have had this creeping psycological type of anti-gun campaign all before.
A few activists push "reasonable" restrictions (EG "for the children's future" or some other drivel)then they and the Media and lackey politicians wait for a trigger (like a massacre) and then 'divide and rule' the gun owners and users....Unfortunately whos reaction is often ..."well, I don't need/have a --------(incert S/A shotgun rifle, handgun, P/A shotgun etc etc as you wish)...so I don't mind the new restrictions personally atall!"
Look what happened to us in Australia over longarms in 1997, look what happened in Britain in 1998 over handguns, it is the 'story of the slowly cooked frog' -see ssaa.org.au for the full story. It is all so sickeningly simple and we fall for it every time...

I wish you all the very best in the US in your struggle, but for us it is I fear nearly over before some major constitutional trouble over here, UNITY is strength.... as is incidentially a shooter/dealer seat on the Firearms Advisory Body in your State !!

Swingeing reloading restrictions on clubmen and stortsmen are the next in line in the UK...IE "if the illegal guns have no ammo, then we will all be safe again"...PC ad nauseam.

Getting back to the subject of the thread, I saw the new S*** & Wimpy line at the Ducks Unlimited festival this weekend. It consists of a 17.6 oz 7-shot .357 K-Frame, an 11 oz .357 Mag J-frame and a 10 oz .32 Mag J-frame. They are built with scandium, some extremely rare element that allows the price to be jacked way up. These things were very light (lighter even than the titanium revolvers), but no way I'd ever shoot them.

Guys,

Question is, when ALL the gun manufacturers have followed suit with S&W, which they will sooner or later, even Beretta, and you're all painted into a corner, just whose guns will you buy then ?

Mike H

I, for one, haven't given up on the other manufactures. We did not abandon Smith & Wesson. They abandoned us. If we do not boycott Smith than the others will follow suit.

plinker
norinco and polytec were banned from importation not exactly a "voluntary" decision
i buy what i want if it catches my eye. no i do not support s&w by not buying new. if i see a gun from s&w used at store/show i am supporting that store or individual. gun prices are not going down. and with the push to close the "gunshow loophole" no matter the mfg. if it is available used chances are more than likely that it is not for sale long
